Our lodge was fantastic - tasteful, spacious, pristine, & lots of thoughtful touches, from coffee & tea to butter dish with lid! Every morning from the decking, we waved to occasional boats on the Caledonian Canal, saw 2 shy young stags down from the mountain, & watched the drama on Ben Nevis to judge (correctly) the best day for our 19-year olds to climb it - & a lock keeper stopped our car to show us an otter at play. We could happily have spent all 10 days at the lodge, and Frank & Ellen were always interesting, helpful & great company, but in between the luxury & relaxation we went to Eilean Donan, Glen Shiel, Skye (Armadale, Dunvegan & Portree), Inverness, Culloden, Clava Cairns, Invergarry's Highland Games, Glencoe, Glen Etive, Glenfinnan, the excellent West Highland Museum in Fort William & Cameron/Commando Centre at Achnacarry, had a sensational meal at Inverlochy Castle, & so much else - "perfect location" is an understatement! All 3 generations, from my 75-year old mother to the teenagers, had a brilliant holiday & could not believe our luck in finding Lochaber Lodges.
