This charming cottage sleeping 2 - 4 people has one Panoramic views of Josselin which is literally a stones throw away. With its swimming pool it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the charms of rural France. Josselin cottage has been fully refurbished and now offers excellent accommodation for 2 or 4 people in two bedrooms. The house is located in the medieval town of Josselin situated on the nantes-brest canal and only forty minutes from the coast. The house is perfectly situated for those who enjoy being in the heart of a thriving historic town and being able to walk to the local boulangerie for hot croissants each morning and then stroll through the ancient narrow streets soaking up the medieval architecture before stopping at one of the many cafes and restaurants for coffee or a traditional three course lunch.

Josselin is known as Petite cite of charactre and certainly lives upto its name, it has streets lined with original timber framed houses which are dotted around the magnificent Basilica de Notre Dame du Roncier. the Chateau du Rohan is still lived in by the Rohan Family. Nearby is a large watersports park which has windsurfing, sailing, pedalos, fishing and a small beach, on the side there is a 9 hole golf course. 30 minutes drive is the cite of Vannes which is placed on the Golfe du Morbihan, here there are coves and beaches abound, which will suite all tastes

Large 6 bedroomed house: Large 6 bedroomed, bathroomed house which is attached to the cottage sleeps up to 12 people comfortably, it has 2 lounges one with satalite television , the other has a medium sized pool table. the house has a large terrace to the front which has stunning views of Josselin, it has a large tiled terrace at the rear of the house which is accessed from the 3 double bedrooms and also the garden. the gardens are located on different levels giving solitude is wanted or family space. the pool is situated at the side of the house with decking at one end with a gate. there is also a patio area with seating.

we had a superb holiday at Josselin
le chateau vue cottage was everything we hoped for a restful weeks holiday, a wonderful setting and the bedroom had views from the patio doors over the chateau , town and countryside.
we had come for a chillout break so this was an ideal location, we were able to bike down the Nantes-brest canal which we would advise anyone who has a bike to do. we ate in some lovely resturants in Josselin which was recommended by the owners. we walked the meal off on the way up to the house. because the weather was very good we were able to use the pool which we had to ourselves as there was no one in the main house, we felt so rested after the holiday , we would recommend a visit to Josselin. the only advise is there is not enough reading matter as we had forgot to pack any, but there is a very good english book shop in Josselin town which we found

holiday at Le Chateau Vue Cottage

we had our summer vacation and stayed at Le Chateau Vue Cottage, we found the area most delightful and had regular walks into josselin and along the canal tow path. Josselin is a most picturesque town with a magnificent chateau. the cottage as described had panoramic views over Josselin town, the chateau and nantes-brest canal which you could see when you sat on the patio next to the swimming pool which our children used all the time.
the cottage itself was comfortable and we think it had just been decorated. both bedrooms had wonderful views and the cottage was well equiped. the only negitive comment I would make is that both bathrooms had showers and I personally prefer a bath. we met Marilyn on a few occasions and we found her to be very helpful in recommending places to visit. overall we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend

A bit of a disappointment

Whilst Josselin is beautiful, Chateau Vue Cottage is sadly not. The views as they correctly state are absolutely stunning but we found the cottage shabby and lacking in facilities.

If you are looking for a holiday with a pool to use this is not the place! The pool was a huge disappointment, our 6 year old who is a very keen swimmer even did not like the pool.

Whilst there are tables and chairs both inside and out we avoided eating inside as the property was very dark and dismal so if the weather was not good enough to eat on the terrace you have no choice but to walk in to town to find a restaurant.

Whilst not too far from the town the hill to the property is very steep and whilst we did not have a problem it is not for the faint hearted! Anyone not fit would really struggle and they should make this clear in the property description.

Whilst the owners were friendly and helpful (came straight out when we called them with a problem) many of our gripes with the property could have been avoided with a little basic maintenance and some TLC.

We may well return to Josselin but we will not be staying at Chateau Vue Cottage again - an experience not to be reapeated!
Owner's Response: sorry that EAF did not enjoy their holiday but Chateau Vue cottage has been re vamped in the last 12 months with new bathroom, new electrical appliances and new bedlinen for this season. the only item it does not have is a dishwasher.There is a laundry room shared with the main house next door. the pool is 9m x 5m but for safety reasons it is not allowed jumping and diving and it does not have a water slide, it is for swimming only,this pool is used for both the cottage and the main house not the cottage only, it has been used and enjoyed by families all summer. there is over an acre of gardens which are terraced which can be difficult for young children running around and there is not room for amenities such as a football area or tennis area and we do not have swings and slides but this is for safety reasons. we do have however a swingball and boules. As with most properties in Josselin which are very old we have oak floors, oak stairs, oak beams and there is a large window but not a patio door downstairs which can make the interior darker than the outside. this is not a modern appartment in Spain with large patio doors. Chateau Vue cottage is situated on the edge of a quiet residential area and we do state it has panoramic views and once you walk into josselin next to the chateau it is quite steep to walk in to the town and back up to the property but our 80 year old neighbour and younger neighbours with children walk down on a daily basis for the bread. Obviously the accommadation will not be to everyones taste if you are looking for a modern property.
