THE SUGARSHACK COTTAGE - A SWEET 5 STAR PLACE TO STAY IN LAGUNA

Cannot recommend highly enough. So simple, clean, so comfortable.
Met by the lovely Sandie on arrival and had a beautiful few days. Walking distance to all the restaurants, shops and galleries in the village, 50m from a bus to take us up and down the coast, and no need for a car. The house had all we needed - just perfect. Definitely planning another visit!! Thanks Sandie.

We had a terrific stay at the Sugarshack! Everything in the pictures was very accurate and even better in person. We enjoyed how close it was to everything. Super easy walking to everything including groceries, beach, park, downtown Laguna and the farmers market. The decor and little extras have made this a very comfortable beach retreat. Sandie and Carl are very friendly and accommodating. We also appreciated them allowing us to bring our little dog with us. We look forward to visiting again!

The Sugar Shack was a terrific place for our two weeks in Laguna Beach. First, the cottage is lovely, tastefully and comfortably furnished. While the pictures of the rooms on the website are accurate, they don’t capture the overall openness and brightness of the place. The large windows all around and the double-sliding glass door to the patio make for a sense of spaciousness. And the front and side yards, the palm, and other plantings and Venetian blinds still provide plenty of privacy. Everything you need (and then some) for eating in is there – with lovely tableware and all the appliances, pots and pans, and kitchen utensils. Even paper napkins and everything you could possibly need for the beach are there.
Except for a day trips to LA,SD and excursions to Dana Point, Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano our car stayed parked. (And this is very important when looking at rentals in Laguna Beach. The Sugar Shack has one off-street parking space, and that’s golden in a town where parking space is very scarce.) Grocery shopping (Ralph’s and Whole Foods and the Sat. Farmers’ Market) are all within easy walking distance. And there are many, many restaurants and shops all within a short stroll. And the beach is a block away. Great tide pools at one end. Lovely Heisler Park is also an easy and enjoyable walk – and a great place to watch for whales. Carl and Sandie are congenial and very helpful hosts with plenty of tips on just about everything – and immediately available if any problem arises. The Sugar Shack was a great place to stay.
