ITTERINGHAM IN THE AUTUMN:
This part of North Norfolk, neither isolated nor sited amongst the hustle & bustle of 'main streams' is, some have said, the most rewarding geography of all for rejuvenating the mind, body & spirit before the onset of winter. The colours & often settled quietness of the landscape provide the perfect backdrop for a peaceful & reflective period of calm before the long haul through to Easter & Spring. Robin Farmhouse occupies a very special position on the local map.
The 'organised' commercial eventing has come to an end for the summer & so the 'serious season' now is beginning. Wonderful walks, trips to the uncrowded coast, the first open fires of the late year down at the Walpole Arms, the new season of plays & films in Norwich, unhurried planning of Christmas, those books to catch up on & mail to those friends you don't see often enough.
Irresistable calma......call to reserve a few days between now & April.
NORTH NORFOLK & ITS' WEATHER:
There is a standing criticism in this part of the world which suggests that those dedicated & intense predicters of weather often get it wrong for this special corner of the country. It is certainly true that we have enjoyed the best of English weather for the whole of August this year & all of our guests have been able to beach or picnic or stroll or otherwise enjoy the outdoors for almost all of the thirty one days of the month. The autumn is almost always calm & quiet so a good time to be here(no guarantees mind).
The huge skies are probably at their best through September/October, the occassional high wind gives spectacular tides on the coast, the woodland changes to its' loudest colours & our chefs are chopping away at their fresh menus for the winter tables.
Come to stay for a few days. We look forward to your booking.
CHRISTMAS & THE NEW YEAR:
Christmas has long been an ambiguous issue with many of us not least because of the anxiety & stress of all that's involved in the lead in time. Lots find that a short break in a fresh environment, either before or after the event, provides much needed relief & a re-injection of energy. It goes without saying that Christmas week away with close friends or family can be hugely rewarding in all sorts of surprising & unexpected ways. Robin Farmhouse is relaxed, warm, comfortable & uncluttered. Not 'smartsmart' but tidy, easy & convenient & (according to the guest book) a 'perfect place for family holiday or for groups of friends'. We have also had couples take on the letting for a weekend.(Prices are adjusted to suit). The Christmas period comes with a decorated tree & bunting & a set of crackers, the New Year with a bottle of good Italian fizz. The post holiday period is favourite for walks in the country around Itteringham & light eating. England in winter.....what could be better!
