Cordoba Province Vacation Rental villa: Iznajar

We are just back from this idyllic villa - two octagenarians, a 16 year old and two in mid-life crisis so a fair mix to give a review.
This villa is a paradise - beautiful pool, immaculately clean and in excellent condition. My husband particularly liked the outdoor barbecue, griddle and chiller cabinet, so he did not have to go far for his liquid refreshment.
Domingo had thoughtfully planned the villa with plenty of shade for everyone, which was perhaps as well as temperatures were in their forties last week. The air-conditioning in the house made a welcome relief for anyone who did not want to sit by the pool. The pool itself was perfect for both swimming and having fun and very clean. The view across the valley to the hilltop village of Iznajar was spectacular. Sadly we enjoyed the house so much that we only ventured forth a couple of times - once to Cordoba in the evening (fabulous) and also to Antequera which was definitely worth a visit. The walk up the narrow streets and round the moorish fort were well worth the effort. There is a supermarket in Rute which satisfied all our needs for provisions and also a Chinese emporium for pool toys etc if needed. We didn't visit any restaurants or bars at all as we did all our chilling out round the pool and barbecue - a real relaxation and recharge holiday. If I were being really critical of the villa it would be the mattresses. They are like boards, which my husband thought was great, but after all that wine and beer............ It certainly didn't spoil the holiday! Also the kitchen is fairly basically equipped (e.g.no kettle or plastic poolware) which again, was no problem for us.
Domingo himself is a charming and accommodating man and despite us not speaking a word of Spanish and him not speaking a word of English we managed. Maki was very helpful and we must also thank her for all her assistance.
I would definitely recommend this villa to friends and may return there one day.
