My wife & I had a great time. While weather permitted we found our cozy spot on the beach & in the beautiful lake. We took advantage of all the small towns antiquing, dinning & shopping when weather lead us in that direction. Never a lack of things to do. Golf at Dunmaglas golf course is spectacular with beautiful elevated views. Anyone that stays hear will also find the owner would class. Thank you Bill for the great stay! M&M....
We arrived in Boyne City early on Saturday morning in time to stroll through the Farmers' Market in town, coming away with delicious sweet cherries and huge blueberries, followed by some fun time in the park playground before heading to the cottage to check in. On the following Saturday on the way out of town, we stopped again at the Farmers' Market and purchased some Johnecheck's sweet corn to take home--delicious!
A short beautiful drive through the woods opens up to this terrific little cottage with the lake just beyond. It was perfect for my husband and me, along with our adult daughter and our 3 year-old grandson. Our grandson was instantly delighted with and claimed "his space" in the loft. For sleeping purposes until he's a bit older, his mother chose the comfy pull-out sofa twin beds in the large living room. Maybe in a year or so he'll be able to sleep in the loft at night, but for now it's good for nap time with an adult nearby.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous during our entire stay...couldn't have ordered any better. There was plenty of space in the sun & sand, the sun & grass and the shade & grass--something for everyone for playing and relaxing. We had multiple fires (wood provided) in the fire pit on the beach. The family had a great time using the kayaks all week.
Other highlights of our week were the Boyne City Stroll the Streets on Friday evening, touring (drive-by, not inside) the Earl Young Mushroom Houses and Castle Farms in Charlevoix, as well as rafting the Jordan River.
Can't say enough about our fabulous host, Bill!! What a wonderful week on Lake Charlevoix!!!
My husband and I spent a week here for our honeymoon. The cottage is so cozy and clean- we all felt at home right away. The cottage has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Bill was very nice and helpful. The cottage is in a perfect location- you can kayak to a beautiful beach in Young State Park. Our favorite place to eat was Sante and of course Kilwins for ice cream! My only wish is that i could go back right now :) It was a nice ending to a magical wedding!! I'll never forget it....
We had a fabulous RELAXING time at this wonderful cabin on Lake Charlevoix. The Owner was very accommodating and invited us to numerous campfires on the beach. The cabin is very comfortable, very clean and an easy place to kick back and forget the rest of the world. Tucked away and nestled in the woods provided for a quiet and relaxing vacation. I loved the location from a standpoint that it was so close to everything. Downtown Charlevoix offers many great restaurants and unique stores. Petoskey and Harbor Springs are only minutes away as well and for a daytrip to Mackinac Island or Pictures Rocks one did not have to travel far to enjoy these great places. This is a great place at reasonable prices and I would highly recommend! Thank you!
We spent a week at the cottage in mid-August 2013. We really enjoyed the beach, even though the week we were there was cooler--60-75 degrees. The water is crystal clear and the beach is sandier then it appears in the pictures. The lake is extremely shallow near the beach and you can clearly see where it gets deeper. My children are 3 and 5, I felt safe with them playing in the water. We had several fires on the beach at sunset. We explored Mackinac Island one of the days we were there--it is about an hour to the north. We also explored Boyne City (cute not to touristy--liked the mini golf and outdoor street activities on Friday night) and Charlevoix (enjoyed watching boats come in, the little shops, and splash pad area.) There was also a park on Lake Michigan near Charlevoix that had a really pretty beach.
Bathroom was really tight and has only a shower. This place would be tricky with children younger then 3 years old.
Bill was a great host and available if needed.
We had a great time at this quaint cottage on the lake. The owner was very helpful and even rented his pontoon boat for a day. Great area close to everything!! Quiet and peaceful, Pure Michigan!
