Florida Keys – (Islamorada/Tavernier area) This contemporary home is in a private, small serene neighborhood on the ocean, with tropical landscape that is close to everything you'll need for a family vacation, fishing trip or private getaway. It is near many water attractions, marina's, great restaurants and local shops. $400,000 in recent renovations makes this home a top choice. Immaculate and well finished in every detail. Let the photos speak for themselves.
Born and raised in central Illinois, our family has been coming to the Islamorada, Florida Keys area for the past 14 years and have completely fallen in love with it. We recently took the plunge and bought this gorgeous home to enjoy with family and friends. We would be happy to talk to you about the 'must see' places to visit and dine while you are visiting the area.
Doug purchased this house in 2012
Our home is located on the very southern part of Tavernier right next to Islamorada. The home has just undergone a $400,000 renovation and is absolutely beautiful and furnished with Ethan Allen furniture throughout. The pocket doors across the front of the home completely open up to the upper outdoor veranda that runs the entire length of the home for that Florida Keys home feel. On the lower level by the pool and boat dock, there is an outdoor shower, fish fillet station and stairs that lead right into the ocean water and a large Weber stainless steel grill for cooking out.
You will love the beautiful ocean view and all there is to offer in the area such as great fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, water sports, shopping, local restaurants or just hanging out at the pool. We are close to the Tavernier Marina, Bud and Mary's Marina and Robbie's Marina. The Winne Dixie grocery store is a five minute drive away. Theater of the Sea and John Pennecamp State Park is nearby. There is nothing like the laid back atmosphere of the Keys. Relax at one of the many open air restaurants, have a cold drink a great meal and listen to live music while watching a spectacular sunset.
It was the best vacation we've had in The Keys in a long time. From the moment we arrived, it was perfect. The location idyllic. It sits on a lazy street, in a sleepy little neighborhood. It is great for relaxing yet close to all the places we've become accustomed to frequenting.
From the moment we entered the property we knew it was going to be amazing. The property is beautifully landscaped. When sitting on the pool deck, you are surrounded by lush vegetation which while beautiful, also provided a degree of privacy from the surrounding homes. We spent hours in the pool with the kids. We had kayaks and a paddleboard delivered from the Kayak Shack which we used to explore the canal and along the break wall. This became a daily ritual for the kids. Sitting on the upper deck at night, listening to the wind rustle the leaves, or just star gazing was a lovely, tranquil way to finish off the day. The pool area by night, stunning.
The house is exactly as pictured. The layout is open with a nice flow. Although spacious, you never feel too far away from the rest of your party. It is beautifully furnished, very clean, well maintained. The appliances top of the line. The color palette is reminiscent of the sea and quite soothing. Doug, our host has provided suggestions for where to eat, places to go. We had pizza from Chad's. I'm not a fan of pizza, but this was really good. We also tried the key lime cake from The Trading Post. It too was an excellent recommendation. The Hungry Tarpon at Robbie's Marina was another great spot to catch a bite and feed the tarpon(they were really hungry). Our hosts have thought of everything you might need from beach toys, stacks of reading material, puzzles and bikes which the kids put to good use. The downstairs room with the entertainment center and ping pong table was where we'd begin to wind down each evening with family movie night.
I can't say enough about our host, Doug. From our first inquiry to the end of our stay, and after, he was wonderful. He answered all our questions. He encouraged us to call if there were any problems(there were none), because he genuinely wanted us to have a lovely vacation. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and because of this, we did.
My niece who traveled with us, upon returning home, told her mom what a dream vacation she had had, and how now she was back to her old boring life. I'd have to agree with her. It was a dream vacation. We will definitely be back!
Our family stayed in this beautiful home for 5 weeks during Jan and Feb and we did not want to leave. In fact, we have already booked it again for next year! We loved everything about it! The house was beautifully maintained inside and out. The pool area was amazing with a fabulous view of the ocean. Doug, the owner, was very helpful with answering any questions and giving great recommendations for nearby activities and great restaurants. This house is in a great location in a quiet neighborhood. My favorite thing about this house was waking up every morning and sitting on the outside deck. It was so peaceful and beautiful. We rode our bikes everyday to a park with a small beach. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away and relax!!!
This properly is exactly as pictured! Better than pictured! It is beautiful, well appointed, clean with spectacular views of the water and sunrise.
We spent our family spring break, along with another family, in the home. There was plenty of space to spread out, enjoy the pool, ping pong table, deck, etc. Additionally the home is located very close to a grocery store, pharmacy, and within walking distance to a great deli and Dairy Queen.
We also enjoyed several nearby restaurants including Chad's, Ma's, Mile Marker 88 (outside and on a beautiful beach), Morada Bay (also outside on a beautiful beach), and lastly Lorelei (also on a beach!!!!).
We took a day and drive to Key West. Well with the 2.5 hour drive. Took the kids to Theater of the Sea and swam with the dolphins. Also located veery close to the house. If you like snorkeling there is a coral reef state park within 10 miles of the house.
If we come back to the keys we will definitely stay here again!
My family and I had a fantastic time at this property! The property definitely lived up the pictures. The house was extremely clean and the pool and yard were expertly maintained. Doug did a great job of informing us of everything we needed for our stay and the list of restaurants he provided were delicious. We had such an amazing time there that we are already planning a return trip to the Keys and this house!
When deciding we wanted to go on a family vacation to the Florida Keys, we spent a lot of time cruising the VRBO website analyzing all types of properties and price ranges. We are a family of 5 (kids age 9-15) and wanted something comfortable, centralized and affordable. After reviewing numerous properties, this location fit all of our requirements.
We called the owner on a Sunday morning and he picked up the phone and proceeded to answer all our questions and told us about all the activities in the area. Everything from the first phone call, rental agreements and future communications were prompt and professional.
When we arrived at the property, everything was exactly as the website portrayed and was very well maintained. We did have one issue upon checkin. (Stuff happens) Within 5 minutes of texting the owner, we had a return phone call, a repairman was scheduled to arrive on site and the problem fixed within a couple hours. All of this was after 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday!! I mention this not to judge the property (as mentioned, it is great) but to let future renters know that the owner takes pride in the home and ensuring the renters have a great experience.
The location is ideal. We spent most of our time within a 20 mile radius and had everything we needed. Night fishing, Para-sailing, Snorkeling, Beaches, Jet Skiing and fabulous restaurants and amazing sunsets. We even enjoyed a couple days of just relaxing at home, swimming in the pool, fishing off the dock and having a family ping pong tournament.
Overall, this is a beautiful home with easy access to everything you need. I highly reccomend this property and working with the owner.
Property was everything it was described to be. We had a wonderful family vacation in this beautiful home. Convenient to everything we wanted to do. The pool was better than we expected. Doug our host was the best. Always available to make your stay the best it can be. Will return again.
