Burnsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Built in 2011 with a commitment to simple beauty and harmony with its natural surroundings, this cabin was designed by my architect sister with input from our family. With its understated luxury it preserves the delicate spirit of the Appalachian nature and features the work of artists and craftsmen of the Celo Valley.

Our cabin has three bedrooms and a loft and sleeps 6 people comfortably. The large, partially covered deck offers majestic views and cool breezes, even in the summer.

If you want a true mountain experience - with all the luxuries of a modern, beautifully decorated cabin - this is it.

Suitability:
  • pets considered
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only

We live in Charleston SC and Tampa FL and love our getaways to the mountains of North Carolina - especially in the hot summer months. In the fall, the colors are beautiful and remind us of where we grew up in southern Ontario and Bavaria.

Lisa Steuer purchased this cabin in 2011

My husband and I bought our cabin in 2006 and immediately fell in love with the people and surroundings of the South Toe Valley. Five years later we joined with my architect sister and her husband to build this new, beautiful cabin on the neighboring property, so now more people can experience the beauty of this area. We hope you will join us soon!

Hiking (easy walking or more intense hikes), biking, rock climbing, gem mining, fishing - this property has it all.

The cabin is within walking distance of the Pisgah National Forest. You can walk all the way to Mt. Mitchell and never get in a car.

It was the best location, beautiful cabin. Center of a beautiful area. Views from every window. On the porch, you could get lost forever. Wonderful fire place. A good place to unwind. I will be going back.

I want to personally thank Lisa the owner for being sooooo informative and giving us plenty of options and places where to go. The cabin was AMAZING. If you want everything new and clean... this is a must. This cabin has everything. We truly relaxed by the fire. All the wood was supplied. It was so easy to cook as everything was new, clean and comfortable, and easy to use. We hiked in nearby waterfalls, along the creeks. Just an awesome time. Definitely recommend this serene place to stay at. And we would definitely come back. Oh... mostly importantly, the views were.....+++++++

Magical week

My husband and I spent a wonderful week here at "cabin with a view". This was truly a first class house. The first part of the week we invited our friends who we love gather with to cook good meals and play music. The house is equipped with a great kitchen, cookware, plenty of plates etc.. and seating for meals. Each space(bedrooms, loft, living room and deck) are lovely- its views out on the mountains, light, comfort, layout and furnishings. The second part of our stay included having our adult kids and our 2 year old grandson. The house was roomy enough for separate sleeping but also provided comfortable communal space. The cabin's close proximity to Carolina Hemlocks was a bonus for both groups, with its access to the beautiful ( but chilly) South Toe River. Lisa, the owner, is responsive and accommodating. I look forward to returning to this cabin again.

Despite days of rain (over 6 inches!!) this was the perfect relaxing vacation. The entire area was new to us and the location as a base for exploring the mountains and nearby cities and tiny towns was perfect. The cabin is beautiful. Perfect in every way. The setting 1/2 way up the mountain is unreal. No problem traveling up and down but wished we had driven the Jeep. No one within sight but met a few nice neighbors. Walked our dog daily up and down the road and the nearby trail is worth hiking. Owner, as well as management was very responsive and contract and travel arrangements were quick and easy. This is a home we would rent again and again. Thanks for letting us spend the week!

Map

This cabin offers a relaxing escape from hectic city life. Here you will find restful recreation in the open arms of nature. If you love to hike, bike and fish, then you'll fall in love with the South Toe River Valley and the Pisgah National Forest. There are miles and miles of hiking trails and roads for biking and rivers for fishing. Through tunnels of dark-green branched rhododendron and flame azaleas, you can walk right from our cabin to Mount Mitchell. If the focus of your vacation is to explore the craft studios of the Appalachian Mountains, then you've come to the right place. There are over 200 potters, glassblowers, metalworkers and jewelry makers within a forty mile radius of our cabin. Penland School of Crafts is about a thirty minutes drive from Celo. Mount Mitchell Golf Course, Carolina Hemlocks State Park, Crabtree Falls, the Appalachian Trail and the Mountain Goat Farm are all just a short drive away.
