About Jeff Tesch

Owners live in Minnesota, just across the Mississippi River from the property. Deb is a grade school teacher and Jeff is a former teacher (high school and technical college), university laboratory manager, and currently owner of EXERTECH.

Jeff Tesch purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Jeff Tesch chose La Crosse

When this property came up for sale in 2008 we bought it immediately because of the natural beauty of the location.

We have kayaked from the cabin to our house in Dresbach, MN, a roughly 3.5 hour paddle down the Black River to its confluence with the Mississippi River. The waterways are gently flowing and inhabited by eagles, herons, otters, beavers, deer, ducks and other wildlife of all kinds.

What makes this cabin unique

In 2010, the existing cottage was stripped down to the framing lumber and completely renovated with new electrical, plumbing, septic system, dry wall, floor tile, windows, doors, kitchen cabinets, appliances and furnishings.

Wonderful Cabin Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I have stayed at several VRBO rentals over the years, and this place is one of the nicest. The cabin is spotless and well equipped. We brought our black lab Mackie who had a wonderful time swimming, fetching, chasing squirrels, and even playing with the owner's black lab one day. Not many places will accept pets these days, so we were fortunate to find this place. It is also very close to where my daughter lives, so we got to spend some time with her. I caught a nice 31" blue catfish our first night there, and missed several others. We had several campfires down by the river while fishing at the same time. There are tons of places to go and things to do in the area. Also good places to eat such as Red Pines on Lake Onalaska and the Hungry Point Bar and Trempealeau Hotel in Trempealeau (8 miles away). The only thing that is not obvious from the pics and description is the hill down to the river is bigger than it looks. You will get a bit of a workout going back and forth, which is a good thing. It's a great place and we had a great time. Will definitely go back.

Awesome cabin!

  • 5 of 5
Very clean and nice place to stay. We saw at least 15 bald eagles soaring in the sky. It was kind of rainy out during our stay so we didn't have a fire down by the river, it looked like it would have been fun. Cabin is on a dead end street and the neighbor across the street was very nice to talk to. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone. Lots to do in the surrounding area.

Lovely Clean Cabin on the Black River

  • 5 of 5
It was a wonderful cabin with a perfect setting for three older gals looking for a quiet place to get together. The sun was starting to set after we arrived so we got some wonderful pictures down by the river of the sun coming through the trees. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and a great place for us to work on our projects and make some cookies and caramel apples. We ate one evening at Seasonings in Holmen and the food and service was exceptional. We would definitely stay at this cabin again the next time we stay in that area.

A few dayz with the dogz

  • 5 of 5
My stay was wonderful. Cabin was very well supplied and modern. (I brought my own internet though)Setting was quiet. In a small community with about 4 streets. Only 5-7 miles to larger town with grocery store and etc. Private enough that my dogs (2 labs) could be off leash on the property with no worries. River access for ball playing in the water! Property is exactly as it appears in photo. Although I had no issues, it was nice to know property owner was close by if needed.
