We are a local family with three children, two at Lifeway Christian and our oldest at John Brown University. We have always dreamed of owning a B&B. This comfortable vintage cottage allowed us to live out some of that dream with this great home in downtown Bentonville.
We put a lot of time and energy into this little cottage and we know you will fall in love with it, just like we did. It was always meant to be shared.
We have been blessed in 2012 with the opportunity to purchase the two houses next door to the Mockingbird. Soon in 2013 we will be able to introduce the Meadowlark and Hummingbird. Look for them on VRBO!
Kevin & Shelley Kraning purchased this cottage in 2012

We spent two nights in the larger cottage because the inn keeper was kind enough to extend some last minute flexibility to me and my party. Serene, beautiful and welcoming barely begin to describe our experience. Clearly, great care and planning have gone into this place. It was so close and convenient to the very best of Bentonville! If we had been more energetic, we could have walked to Crystal Bridges Museum. Nearby restaurants were top drawer, and I enjoyed cooking a big family breakfast the morning before we left. I would highly recommend it, and I plan to visit again.
It's a cute cottage, very clean and comfortable. We were working long hours and it was a nice change from a hotel room. It's beautifully decorated and modern. Great water pressure! It takes only a few minutes to walk to the main square. Plus, all of the cottages are well stocked for cooking but also have items like spices and sugar. Very well stocked pantry.
We spent two nights at Mockingbird Cottage and it was everything we could have wanted and more. First of all, it is even better than the pictures - beautifully decorated in really tasteful country style, but warm and comfortable. Secondly, there was everything we needed to fix our first breakfast - fruit, coffee, eggs, cream, plus fresh cookies and chocolates. We didn't cook much except for breakfast, but anything you'd need to prepare meals was there.
The cottage is really convenient to downtown - two short blocks, so it's close to great restaurants and all the sights.
If I could move Mockingbird Cottage to Seattle, I'd be living in it today!!
The Mockingbird was wonderful for our family of 4. It is a beautifully restored home and very stylishly appointed, with a classic "cottage" style. We enjoyed sitting on the wrap-around porch and enjoying the quiet neighborhood. Just a few blocks from the quaint downtown, we enjoyed walking to restaurants and other downtown places of interest. We really enjoyed our 2-night stay in Bentonville, and we hope to come back again in the future -- and hopefully, to stay in the Mockingbird!
We loved staying at the Mockingbird. Clean, bright, happy and comfortable. The owners put such wonderful personal touches into the cottage to make you feel at home, and the location is close enoght to the Bentonville square to walk to enjoy the lovely restaurants, first Walmart 5 and Dime and Farmers' Market.
We stayed at Mockingbird in the middle of October. This was our second stay with DBC. We stayed at Meadowlark last spring which is right next door. We've stayed at many different rentals on VRBO over the years and no one does a better job than Downtown Bentonville Cottages. Their properties are clean, beautifully decorated, and they go the extra mile with nice touches like stocked items in the fridge and a nice coffee selection. I also appreciate the fact they don't charge a cleaning fee which to me is just a way that some property owners hit you with an extra expense.
Mockingbird is a beautiful property. Even though the house is a bit smaller than Meadowlark the porch is much bigger. We spent the evenings out on the porch in the swing. Downtown is a few short blocks away so between that and Crystal Bridges we had no problem filling our days.
If you stay here I highly recommend a trip over to Crepes Paulette, my favorite place to eat in Bentonville. You won't be disappointed there or at any of the Downtown Bentonville Cottages.
