Photos and Description of the County Wicklow vacation house rental Spacious restored 3 bedroomed houses in tranquil Victorian courtyard

Built in 1840 by the Earl Fitzwilliam on his vast estate of 90,000 acres, as a showpiece model farm, hundreds of local workers were employed on this, the home farm. The main house at Coolattin Lodge, formerly the farm manager's residence, is now occupied by the present owners who have sympathetically refurbished the houses in the courtyard which formerly housed dairy staff, saddlers and grooms. They have been careful to preserve the original fabric and traditional features of the accommodation but have added a touch of luxury to ensure that guests are comfortable and warm with modern convenience of central heating, wood burning stoves for alternative heating and atmosphere, and top of the range cooking facilities. Across the way Coolattin House, its beautifully mature parkland and gardens, are now part of the famous Coolattin golf club, renowned for its landscaping and scenic backdrops of hills and oak woods.Golfers can wallk to the clubhouse from Coolattin Lodge along the avenue.

Fantastic Place to Stay

Sinead09 Dublin
Review Submitted: November 15, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
We were a group of 12 and unfortunately only stayed for one night in Coolattin, when we arrived we were blown away by the lodges, the photos do not do them justice, they really are beauiful and once you arrive you will not want to leave/ The wood burning stoves are very atmospheric and the owners could not do enough to help us. We needed a cable for a projector which we did not take with us and they arranged for their son to locate one for us. Every detail is taken care of, I really cannot wait to go back, fantastic for a small group or family. The lodges are very spacious and the rooms are breathtaking. I cannot recommend these enough.
Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind comments in your review - and giving us such a glowing recommendation. We find it very gratifying and fulfilling when our guests express their satisfaction so wholeheartedly. We have put our heart and soul and much thought and soulsearching into recreating the bygone ambience of this lovely old courtyard but also ensuring a charm and comfort that would make our visitors feel very much at home. Since we opened our doors to guests last Spring we have been really thrilled by their response. Positive feedback like yours gives us some reassurance that we have achieved our objective, and the encouragement to maintain and improve our standard of hospitality.
