Port Alberni Cottage Rental Photos and Description
This three bedroom, 1,000sq.ft. modern cottage is situated on a large, private, wooded, waterfront property with a floating dock and multi-level cedar decks, one at the water's edge. It is best suited to a family of 4, interested in water activities, relaxing, or local activities. The water is a pristine, crystal clear quality, 30 feet deep, off the wharf. It is a peaceful property where kayaking, canoeing and wind surfing is popular. The local area is known for the fascinating water bomber planes, located near Sproat lake provincial park, the Franklin Barkley boat trip to Bambfield and the short steam train trip to McLean timber mill.
Appliances, fridge, stove, microwave, blender, gas barbecue, large kitchen, large living room and two small bedrooms, (1 double, one set of bunk beds) overlooking the lake on the first floor. The whole second floor is one very big master bedroom with a sink in the room, overlooking the lake. One bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. It is a very clean, new, organized and well looked after cottage.
We love this property for it's serenity and fun for kids. We have games and books for a good family time.
Why Maureen Betts chose Port Alberni
The property is outstanding for nature, beautiful private surroundings and lovely hot days. The water is exceptionally clean and clear, great for swimmers. The location is near other beautiful places such as Tofino.
What makes this cottage unique
the cabin is clean, new, simple, tastefully decorated and very comfortable.
Wonderful stay at Sprout Lake. Amazing clear, clean water for swimming. Complete privacy and quiet. Loved having breakfast on the deck in the sunshine. Wine and laughter on the lower deck at night while enjoying the stars and moon, made for a perfect end to a wonderful day with great friends. This is the place for a quiet get a way from the noise of the city. Don't forget your books.
This is a delightful spot, as it not only offers all the pleasures of fresh water sports but also offers quick access to Long Beach and the great recreational activities of the West Coast. The Cabin itself is very clean and well-maintained - with plenty of deck space. The water is deep and clear - very nice. Our family has stayed in the cabin, each summer during the past four years. Two concerns are the number of stairs one must descend and climb to access the lake and the lack of a close boat launch. Otherwise, it's a marvelous place to be - great views, warm nights, and hours of peace. The mornings are great for waterskiing and the westerly wind that pops up in the afternoon is great for sailing and windsurfing.

We are a family of 4 and we've stayed at this property for a week each of the past 7 years. We keep going back for the beauty, relaxation, and simplicity. The listing description is accurate but modest. The photographs give a good representation of some of the cabin and property's amenities. However, the photographs do not capture the full beauty. In our experience the property has always been clean and very well maintained. The owner is often onsite to meet us and answer any questions we have and has provided a very helpful companion binder that explains where everything is, what to watch for, etc.
This is a beautiful private property. A cottage in the woods overlooking pristine Sproat Lake. The dock is wonderful for relaxing on and very, very warm during sunny days. Even when it is hot on the dock the water is always refreshing and clear, great for swimming and snorkelling. One step off the dock and refreshment is yours. Or, if you aren't into a dip, you can relax on one of the three decks in the cool shade of the forest. Because of the shade the cabin is a comfortable temperature even on very hot days and is perfectly furnished for mid morning or early (or late) afternoon naps.
Mornings are quiet and peaceful, the water still and clear. During our stays the days have, with rare exception, been very warm - sometimes hot. A breeze or wind blows up most late afternoons (great for sailing) but the trees provide shelter on the property. Even when it rains the cabin is a great place to hang out, read, work on puzzles (these are in the closet) or just relax. Evenings are quiet and you rarely hear others who live further up the lake.
The cabin is not far from Port Alberni, Tofino, and Uclulet and all make excellent day trips. The driveway is a bit steep and there are quite a few (beautifully built) stairs to get to and from the dock and the cabin (around a hundred steps through the forest with 3 sitting decks between the dock and cabin for rest breaks if you like). We have found these are not drawbacks but positive features and add to the privacy of the property from surrounding properties as well as privacy from each other if we care for it.
Overall an excellent option. Quiet, simple living with beauty all around. Very refreshing.

Families with Young Children,
My husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay for a weekend at this amazing Sproat Lake paradise retreat on our way to Tofino-the weather was summer perfect and we could not wait to test out the chrystal clear waters that did not disappoint us. The setting took our breath away-the majestic snow capped mountains, the sounds of silence and the soaring eagles overhead. We were mesmerized by the beauty and the fresh air-slept like babes-the swim helped too! The stairs to the waterfront were nestled in different levels..so that at anytime you could stop and relax on a lounge chair with a good book, close your eyes and meditate or just listen to the birds. You could choose sun or shade whatever your mood. Everything we needed was available and the owners were friendly and charming! We loved our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it to other travellers.
