Thank Gods for the Scottish people

  • 5 of 5
All right, I am originally from L.A., but sadly now live in a small town. It was grand being in a city again; nevertheless, one thing for the first time visitor to the U.K., expect some delay in customs. That is the only complaint I have for a 2 week vacation in the city. Many other reviewers have commented on the location: it is perfect. The Scotia pub is just on the corner, which is nice for a quick pint in a historically significant pub. Down the street is Annie Miller, a Rangers pub (do not wear anything remotely Celtic related: honestly, it is a jerk thing to do), and St. Enoch's is across the street. There is the Glasgow green nearby for the park lover (like me), and a quick walk will take you down to the West End for the pub jumper (again like me). One aspect I loved about Glasgow is that as a person without a car, I did not feel pressured to take even one bus ride. Everything is within walking distance. The pink triangle for gay bars is right down the road. If that is not your scene, if you go down Saltmarket to find a few other pubs (I recommend The Spirit for an old-time pub feel with friendly locals).

The flat itself is quite nice. 2 rooms, a hallway, a bathroom, and a kitchen are all there for one. A side note for the first time visitor: there are switches for everything. Everything was clean, and organised (and labelled for dumb Americans such as I). To add a personal touch for two weeks, I went down to a corner shop like Salisbury, bought a dozen flowers for like 3 pounds, and voila! A personal touch that will last for the two weeks. The owners (I don't know if I should type their names, so no offence to them) were totally understanding. My friend and I were late because of customs by four hours, and they were completely understanding. They, and all Glaswegians, were very kind. When my friend fried one of his appliances, they came over and helped sort it out without a single word of complaint.

Personal notes: The locks there have a deadbolt that is locked from the inside and outside, so it is super safe feeling. (Also, get the keys with Scotland the brave keychain, it's impossible to misplace it). Glaswegians will also talk your ear off, so no worries about trying to make friends. The only other non-positive aspect is a lot of people will try to "speak" American: saying neighborhood vs scheme, 'I did not' vs 'I dinnae', etc. But, they did not shy from politics (both American and U.K.), so I felt more at home rather than an 'outsider'.

Perfect location

  • 4 of 5
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay in this central Glasgow apartment. Ideally situated, the apartment is close to public transport so travel in the city and to areas surrounding Glasgow is made easy.

We stayed over during a cold snap in late March/early April and the apartment was very well heated, with additional heating in the bedroom, if needed. There was an electric shower with water that was comfortably hot. We couldn’t get hot running water in the kitchen sink or bathroom washbasin though; we decided not to contact the owners during our stay to remedy the situation, and heated the kettle instead.

The kitchen was well provisioned with kitchenware. There was a bottle of milk waiting for us in the fridge – a nice touch – and there was tea, coffee, oil and condiments. Metro food stores are within 5-10 minutes’ walk.

Surprisingly, for a central location the area was very quiet although we stayed over during the Easter break, which could have been a factor. Even though the living room of the apartment looks out over an area of ground that is used as a car park and the flat is not far from main roads, we weren’t disturbed by noise. In fact, nothing detracted from the convenience and peacefulness of this great apartment.

Perfect location

The apartment was wonderful and the owners were responsive and helpful. I arrived late at night and they met me at the apartment to show me around and were available for questions that came up later for me. The location is excellent a two minute walk from the pedestrian shopping areas and about 10 minute walk to the train station. The wifi was provide for a few via a dongle. the only thing that would have been nicer is if the pantry had had some basic supplies (i.e. salt, pepper, olive oil, paper towels). Highly recommend this cute place

Good choice for location, practicality, landlords

  • 5 of 5
For my month-long solo visit to Glasgow, I looked at various offerings for self-catering flats on the Internet, and eventually chose this one. Overall, I am entirely pleased with my choice and was particularly delighted to find myself so well located in a city I didn't know before. Of course, the basic choice if you are coming to Glasgow for a couple of weeks as a "tourist" is whether to stay in the West End or in the city center/Merchant City. I opted for the center. For me, the pleasure of walking out of the apartment building directly into the heart of Glasgow's unparalleled architectural wonders was a constant delight. Also, from the flat to the little "subway" which whisks you to Byres Rd. in the West End was less than 5 minutes walk, so I really felt I had everything at hand. The flat is a block from the Clyde River, which has a nice walkway/jogging path along it, and the city's large central park (with its interesting People's Palace) is also just a few blocks away. All the shops you would need, including groceries, and plenty of good restaurants of all levels, are short strolls from the front door. As to the flat itself: it's not large, but not cramped either, entirely serviceable with a nice kitchen, quite pleasant bedroom in the back (with a nice view), and comfortable sofas in the living area. The view from the latter is basically over a large city parking area, but not as bad as that sounds because it's also very open-feeling and bright. Though I had been concerned about it, noise was not an issue. The only caveats I would have regarding a longer stay is Internet connectivity and, if you care, more TV channels beyond the basics. When I was there, the dishwasher was not working at all, and the washing machine seemed slightly problematic. But let me finish by saying how responsive and just plain nice Kathleen and John were in addressing any and all concerns, and doing everything to make my stay in their flat a wonderful experience!

Most Amazing Place to Stay....

  • 5 of 5
Glasgow City Centre Glasgow City Centre Regency Apartment was clean and well maintained. Glasgow City Centre Glasgow City Centre Regency Apartment is the perfect location and close to all public transit and shopping and walking distance to most museums and art galleries.

On a personal note the location was very close to where my grandfather (that I never knew) was born so wandering around the Saltmarket area was very emotional for me to be so close to where he used to live.

Check in was perfect due to Kathleen accommodating my early arrival. Kathleen was very friendly and welcoming.

I had the most amazing time and would recommend Glasgow City Centre Glasgow City Centre Regency Apartment, to anyone.

Thank you for making my stay in the beautiful city of Glasgow the most amazing time ever. I hope to come and stay again.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5
The flat was the perfect size for myself and even when my cousin joined me later, we still had plenty of room. The flat was well maintained and clean. It is in the perfect location to all public transportation and shopping. The Argyll train station is literally across the street! Check in was seamless and Kathleen was warm and welcoming. Our plan for internet usage fell through and Kathleen and John were more than accomodating in providing wireless to us very quickly! I plan on visiting family next year and will be coming back to stay and would recommend this rental to anyone!
