This cabin has everything you need. Everything. Our kids' ages range from 4-16 and there was something for everyone. They were never bored. And it is so well supplied and organized, I felt relaxed even though I was cooking and keeping house the whole time we were there. It was wonderful. There is a great book under the coffee table in the living room with a collection of places to visit. We recommend going up the Blue Ridge Parkway toward Blowing Rock (about a 40 minute drive). Julian Price Park has picnic tables and bathrooms with a creek and trails. And Moses Cone Park has hiking, horseback riding, an Art Gallery and a lovely and easy walk around Bass Lake. Afterward, go one mile to Blowing Rock for an ice-cream cone. We also highly recommend driving North on Hwy 16 to the Church of the Frescoes (which are amazing!!) and Michael will play an impromptu concert on the hammered dulcimers for you at the Greenhouse Gift Shop if you ask. If you go into West Jefferson to Mt. Jefferson State Park (about 20 minute trip) and drive to the top, you can see at least three states! And last, but not least, a 25 minute drive to the New River State Park where there are educational signs about wildlife and shallow places to play in the New River was a good place too. We are a family on a budget and we only paid for the gas to get to all of these places. Zaloos Canoes was closed while we were here, but we want to come back when they're open and take the kids. The only thing that was kind of a concern...we have a guy with asthma and the strong scent of fragrance plug-ins worried me a bit at first. But I unplugged them and he was fine. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us, Millers!! We were tickled to find glasses in the cupboard with "our" initials on them. ;-) We will definitely be back.
The pictures do not do cabin justice. It was one of best cabins we have stayed in yet. My entire family loved it. It did not feel like a vacation rental but more like a home. We will rent again.
We had a great long weekend. The house was so spacious and clean, had everything we needed. Will definitely go back again and again!!
We have stayed in the Tree House many times. It is decorated beautifully, but it is comfortable and not fussy, with plenty of room. The bedrooms are roomy and the beds are comfortable as well. The front porch is really in the Trees, we spend a lot of time out there. Coffee out there is great and can make you lose track of time. The owners have a great information notebook in the den that helps plan your stay and answer questions about local restaurants and areas of interest. The location is great and close to golf and shopping. The golf courses are beautiful as well, my husband has trouble deciding where to play first, and you can go shopping or out to eat right in town or make the short trip to Boone or Blowing Rock. I love to shop in Blowing Rock. With the front porch, the great back yard with deck, grill and fire pit, we always spend one or more evenings at the house. How many vacations do you go on that you WANT to stay "in". We have been with family and friends and already have plans to return in the Fall and again next Summer. ENJOY!
My wife and I spent a long weekend here in mid-December. We had the most relaxing and peaceful time high up on a hill by itself away from traffic. We sat around the fire pit and enjoyed the scenery. We were blessed with great weather that allowed us to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway that was less than a mile from the house. I would have been happy staying at the house and enjoying the solitude, but my wife talked me into going to Blowing Rock, which turned out to be a wonderful afternoon trip. The town is filled with quaint shops and restaurants. This is a well-kept, recently remodeled, traditional mountain house. We will not hesitate to book a trip again in the future!
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the privacy in this 6+ acre setting. Sit outside around the fire pit or on one of the two porches and watch the world go by. There is a steak/seafood restaurant at the bottom the hill. You won't go hungry! The Jeffersons with their small town feel are only 10 minutes away with more restaurants, old-time movie theater, the cheese factory, shopping, antique stores and art galleries. Beautiful views are all around you everywhere you go. In 30 minutes, you can be in Boone or Blowing Rock for shopping, enjoying Tweetsie Railroad with the kids, or snow skiing. Other ski slopes are only a 45 minute drive. The Blueridge Parkway is only a 1/4 mile away--a beautiful and relaxing drive.
Take advantage of all there is to offer!
