Overview

Traverse City House Rental Photos and Description

This historic downtown Traverse City home was built in 1881 and heavily renovated over the last decade to marry its century-old character with the modern luxuries of central air conditioning, stainless-steel appliances, and a master suite that includes a large whirlpool jacuzzi tub.

The house is 1900 sq. ft. with three bedrooms (each with queen-sized beds) and two full-size bathrooms. The living room has a cable-equipped HDTV and DVD player, Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the house, and a washer and dryer are located in the main-floor bathroom.

The backyard houses a multi-level deck with entrances to the main-floor and upper-level bedrooms. A gas-powered grill and fire pit are also located in the backyard for unwinding after a full day of shopping downtown or at the nearby mall, taking in a festival, going to the beach, or sampling some of the region's growing selection of wine and beer.

The backyard is also fully fenced-in for the convenience of guests with dogs.

Cyclists, runners, and walkers can pick up the Traverse Area Recreational Trail (TART) just west of the property on Railroad Avenue, and ambitious trail-followers can take the TART all the way north to Suttons Bay or east to Acme. The wineries of Old Mission and Leelanau Peninsula are a short drive away, as are various casinos, inland lakes, and golf courses.

Great place for a couples get away

  • 5 of 5
We comfortably stay here with three couples for a weekend get away. Very close to town and only a block away from the TART trail system. It sure beat staying in a hotel as we were able to enjoy each others company in the peace of a home setting. We hope to be back next year for the Mud, Sweat and Beers mountian bike festival.

Traverse City Gem!!

  • 4 of 5
Great House!! Excellent location close to everything and easy to find. Only suggestion I would have is to have more lighting in the back where you have to park at night for the backyard. maybe a sensor light over garage that shines when someone is back there and also a barrier on the deck for dogs seniors and kids so they couldn't just step off in the dark. We had a great time and wish we could stay longer.

Charming Rental, Great for Young Families!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I rented this house for a week-long vacation with our kids (ages 3 and 1), and we found it to be a wonderful pick for our family! For starters, the location is terrific. We were within easy biking distance of downtown TC and within walking distance of a great neighborhood park and the beach. Close proximity to the TART was a plus. We rode our bikes virtually everywhere. We most enjoyed biking downtown to the farmer's market one day and then bringing our fresh finds back to the house for a backyard cookout. Local vineyards and other attractions were a relatively short drive from the house.

The house itself proved to be a good size with a nice lay-out. Our daughter enjoyed the main floor bedroom, and the upstairs adjoining bedrooms were perfect for the baby and us. The house was well appointed and very comfortable. The fenced-in back yard was also nice, enabling our kids to play in the backyard without wandering out of our sight.

We found the neighborhood to be delightful and very family oriented. Lots of families with young children and very friendly retirees. We felt quite safe and very welcome. All of the local parks also had picnic tables, which was very conducive to family picnics and play time.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this rental and would stay here again -- and recommend it to others.

Thanks, Scott!

Just what we were hoping for

  • 5 of 5
Owner was accommodating, low-key and professional - thank you very much! We used this property
(6 adults) as a respite during a large local family reunion which worked out very well for us. If vacationing in TVC, I would highly recommend renting bikes and having a car-free stay here - easy central location, quiet neighborhood and well maintained accommodations. Super pleased with our experience and would definately encourage others if looking for a convenient and safe stay up north.

Perfect escape in Northern Michigan!

  • 5 of 5
I came to this property in July of 2011 during Traverse City Film Fest. The house was perfectly charming, and the location was perfect! I went with a couple friends, and we had a great time. We brought bikes, knowing the property was close to town. That weekend we rode to the theaters, to meals, and to the beach. The house was very clean, and left us very satisfied with amenities, and nearness to local attractions and activities. I'll definitely check this place for availability on my next trip North, and would highly recommend it! Thanks, Scott!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Emily! I'm glad your group enjoyed its stay here, and I hope you can come to Traverse City again soon!

Beautiful downtown location: one block from the Traverse Area Recreational Trail (TART) and F&M Park, and a short walk to the beaches at Sunset Park, Clinch Park, and West End Beach!

Two bicycle shops (Brick Wheels and McClain Cycle and Fitness) are also within walking distance, and each has bikes available for rental.

Downtown shopping, restaurants, and Traverse City's historic State Theatre are all within a mile!
