Congratulations! You have found the only vacation rental on beautiful Duck Harbor Pond. At 2 miles long and a half mile wide, it is not a 'pond' but a glacial lake, perfect for any water sport. Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and snorkeling throughout the summer months. BYOB (Boat, that is) and enjoy motor boating, water skiing, and running jet skis. A Fish Commission Access area provides a place for boat launching.

Pack your clothes, person supplies, and food. We provide most everything else at no extra charge! A detailed list may be requested. We are only 3 hours from NYC.

Swim. fish. and boat off your own private dock and waterfront. Enjoy the calmness of the lake in the morning, afternoon activities, and evening sunsets from the rocking chairs on the covered porch. Our resident Blue Herons and Bald Eagles can be seen frequently.

Our new log cabin was designed for family fun and enjoyment. We considered families with special needs by including a handicap ramp and 36 inch doorways on the main floor.

Families with allergies will do well in this house since there are all wood floors with no carpeting, no pets, and no smoking.

About Elaine Wells

Honest and hard working are words we have heard to describe us. We have shared many adventures in the 38 years we have been married. Although we are both technically 'retired', we are always working on a project. In the fall of 2011, we purchased a run down cottage on Duck Harbor Pond. Over the winter we tore it down and in the spring of 2012 we started building this new log cabin. The design and most of the labor was done by us. We hope you will appreciate our pride in workmanship and love every minute you spend in our cabin.

Situated 10 minutes from the Delaware River, we are centrally located near many summer camps, such as Camp Raninu, Summit Camp, Bryn Mawr Lake Camp, Camp Cayuga, Camp Equinunk, Blue Ridge Camp and Tyler Hill Camp. Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, the site of Woodstock is only 20 minutes away. The Woodstock Museum and many outdoor concerts and activities can be found. The Forestburg Playhouse is also located in Sullivan County NY. They have an incredible line of shows scheduled. The Wayne County Arts Alliance has many activites and local tours. Landers River Trips has canoe, rafting and tube rentals on the Delaware River. Elk Mountain Ski Area is only 25 minutes away and a hidden treasure for skiers. Calkins Creamery features farmstead artisan cheese from a family farm and is a beautiful 10 minute drive. Seasonal Farmers' Market in Callicoon and Hondesdale offer an eclectic variety of locally grown produce, baked goods, wines, and other amazing products. An organic farm stand is walking distance away in the summer.

Our experience started with the responsiveness of the owners on our last minute decision to rent, and when we arrived we were pleasantly surprise at how beautiful the cabin and surrounding area was. The cabin had everything that we needed and more! It was clean, beautifully decorated (but still kid friendly), and well equipped. The views from the front windows and rocking chairs on the front porch were peaceful. During our stay we spent time canoeing, fishing, walking to the horse farm, and took at short drive to the Upper Delaware River. The fishing was great! We reeled in fish right off of the private dock. The neighbors were welcoming from the time that we pulled in and were there to offer assistance and companionship during the stay. It was truely an unforgetable experience and we look forward to our next stay! If you are debating on where to stay, you should definately give this cabin a try you won't be disappointed.

Great weekend getaway

We had a great holiday weekend at this cozy, clean and comfortable new log cabin at Duck Harbor Pond. The windows on the first floor offered great views of the frozen lake and the fields/farmland on the opposite edge of the water. The bathrooms and kitchen were clearly new and well taken care of, as were the bedrooms. Jim and Elaine were wonderful throughout the entire rental process, helping with directions and planning ahead of time and even being so kind as to have the fire going in the fireplace ahead of our arrival. Travelers take heed: no cell phone service here (there is a landline provided in the house), which is perfect if you're trying to unplug for the weekend, just make sure you plan ahead for no service. We'd definitely recommend staying here for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing trip in a lovely waterfront home.

Awesome weekend at Duck Harbor Pond

We had a great weekend in this beautiful, brand new, spotlessly clean cabin. The view of the lake is absolutely gorgeous. Our stay was during February, so we got to step outside and walk on the frozen lake and even visit some ice fisherman a few houses down. We were also lucky enough to have some snow, which definitely added to the scenery. Villa Roma Resort is a 20 minute drive, where we went snow tubing and ice skating - skiing and snowboarding is available there too, and very reasonably priced! Elaine and Jim were incredible!! From the very first inquiry up until the end of our stay, they answered every question, left brochures and menus of nearby restaurants and attractions, kept us up to date on special events taking place in the nearby towns during our weekend, and provided us with very detailed directions. The cabin was spacious, warm, clean, perfectly situated on the lake, and equipped with a full kitchen and comfortable living room. Elaine and Jim were an absolute pleasure to rent from, and they keep the cabin in perfect condition. We loved it, and we would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a great place to get away. We hope to come back and enjoy it in the summer months. Thank you for having us!

We had a great time at this beautiful log cabin at Duck Harbor Lake.
The views of the lake are amazing and we really enjoyed the warm feel
of the house especially the gas firelplace which warmed us on a few very cold nights.
The kitchen is great and we loved that the master br was on the main floor.
The owners of the house are terrriffic people and did everything they could do make sure
our stay was most comfortable.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
