Photos and Description of the East Glacier Park vacation house rental

If you are looking for a fun mountain getaway, consider our vacation house located on the southern boundary of Glacier National Park, just one-half mile north of the Great Bear Wilderness, and five highway miles west of the Continental Divide at Marias Pass. The house is tucked in gladed woods with mountain views, and provides solitude and privacy within easy access (one-quarter mile) of US Highway 2. There are trailheads to both Glacier Park and the Great Bear Wilderness within minutes from our front door.

Our favorite 'room' is actually the large, covered front deck. This porch provides a quiet place to sit and enjoy the day or outside meals. There is a gas barbeque with plenty of outdoor seating and picnic tables provided. The front entrance door opens into the great room which contains the living and dining room spaces. The living area has a log futon couch, comfortable chairs and french doors that open onto a small, intimate back porch. The living room area boasts a natural gas fireplace which provides the perfect setting for a relaxed ending to a fun-filled day.

The master bedroom is located off the living room, and has a double-entry door that can be closed for added privacy. The log-framed bed has a comfortable pillow-top queen mattress. The master bath offers two sinks, a large tub, and a small shower. The other two bedrooms are located at the opposite end of the house, each with a pillow-top queen mattress on a log-framed bed. The shared bathroom is located off the hallway and offers a sink, and a tub/shower combination.

The laundry facility is located in a separate utility room adjacent to the shared bathroom. It has a washer and a dryer, and the hallway door can be closed for quiet operation.

This home offers a living space that evokes the feeling of a bygone era when life was simpler and much less complicated. We made many of the furnishings from local materials, and have used structural log work in the interior to give this house a wealth of character and an unexpected uniqueness. Many people seeing it for the first time appreciate studying all of the detail, as behind each rustic element there is a story. Past visitors have enjoyed this place, and we hope you do as well.

Glacier National Park, the Great Bear Wilderness, and the Continental Divide - it's all right here. Head out the door in any direction. Adventures await as you recreate along the backbone of the Rockies. Our home is outfitted with several informative hiking and sightseeing guide books and maps to help in selecting your activities for the day. This country begs your attention, so get out there and enjoy it. Rest assured, you will have all the comforts of home waiting right here for you when you return.

We do have neighbors. We are located adjacent to a guest ranch which operates as a year-round facility. One other private residence is visible from the driveway.

About Maggie Sneddon and Jack Burcham

I moved to this part of Montana in 1974 to work as a wilderness guide and horse wrangler on a nearby guest ranch. A year later I met Maggie, my bride-to-be, and together we assumed management of the ranch until it sold to new owners in the fall of 1979.

Our love of Glacier National Park and the Great Bear Wilderness has kept us in this remarkable area for all these years, and now we are enjoying a return to our guest ranch roots through this offering of our mountain home to vacationing visitors. We know that our guests will enjoy this beautiful corner of Montana as much as we have, and it is our pleasure to once again share this unique region with others.

The accommodations were absolutely everything we wanted and needed. Our host was exceptional, helpful and extremely hospitable. The cabin was extremely comfortable, we all slept like champions every night including my 15mth old son which is saying something! Definitely somewhere we will be looking to go back to soon.

Wonderful Home Near Glacier!

Submitted: September 11, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
This was a wonderful place for a visit to Glacier! It's close to both the East and West entrances and you couldn't ask for anything more. Quiet, comfortable and private with horse shoes and a sand volleyball area for play. This would be a great place for a family gathering. The home is very nicely decorated and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The owners were extremely helpful with recommendations of things to see and hikes to take in Glacier. It was a joy to meet them! They even left Date-Coconut Bars for us to take on our hikes! Our stay was too short and we only wish our name was on the deed to the property!

Fantastic Experience!!

Submitted: August 7, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious, clean, well-equipped home!! Although the listing states there are neighbors, we never saw anyone--VERY peaceful, quiet...we just wished we had more time to enjoy the fire ring!! The pictures & listing were very accurate, we would stay here again, and have no hesitation in suggesting it to others. The owners were extremely helpful and had great suggestions for hikes and places to eat--very friendly folks! We totally enjoyed our experience and know that you will, too!
