This is my family home where Ken grew up. My family and I have lovingly restored the property and upgraded many elements. Throughout the years the things that have remained constant are the river and the beautiful surroundings.
Ken Jones purchased this farmhouse in 1960
This is a very special property dating back to the the early 1900's. It has been used as a lodge and retreat over the years. Come explore and fall in love with the simplicity of a time gone by.
The main house has a gourmet kitchen. Both homes have wireless internet access. Stay in touch, or not!
a few years have gone by but looking at the pics evoked wonderful memories. I could see Aunt Jean in the kitchen talking to my mother. I fondly recall Troy Jones in that living room in front of the fireplace and the story about the rocks that adorn the face of it. The bunkhouse was our honeymoon stop and we enjoyed the sights, sounds, the river, the clean air, and the ambient history that you can sense and almost hear speaking from the hills and ground beneath your feet.. I used my daughters birthday for the date, but the owners know the actual...
We had a fantastic time at the cabin. Our three grandchildren loved the outdoor games. We all loved sitting by the fire at night, making smores.
So many stars and a full moon! Absolutely beautiful. Everyone hopes we will come back again.
What a beautiful and comfortable space for family and friends to gather, share meals, hikes, fishing, games by the fire, bbqs, etc etc. Everything you need to feel at home while you escape the mundane. Easy drive from Denver. Kitchen is stocked with all the essentials and tons more. Cozy linens and beds. Lots of spaces to sit and read, play games and enjoy your respite. Fun and interesting things to look at and discover both inside this amazing home and outside on the land and river. Even in winter the river was magical and the surroundings stunning. Thank you!!!!
We spent a long weekend here with 3 couples, kids and dogs this winter. It was warm enough to fly fish, but cool enough for a fire in the wonderful hearth. The kitchen is equipped with restaurant quality-cooking supplies: copper pans, oversize oven with griddle, full pantry and chef-caliber cutlery. We feasted on homemade pizza, roasted vegetables and countless glasses of wine, all in the warm, welcoming ambiance of the farmhouse-style kitchen. The oversize table seats 10 comfortably, and there's plenty of overspill seating at the island or in the livingroom. We hiked, snowshoed, fly-fished, played pool and talked by the fire. The bathrooms are hotel-esque and the bedrooms are cozy. Washer and dryer are convenient.
The kids had a great time building snow forts and playing outside, and didn't even try to find the "hidden" TV! There were art supplies (they spent hours drawing at the farm table) and plenty of toys.
This is a true Wyoming gem, and should be experienced by anyone who is looking for a relaxing weekend (or week) where you can truly get away from it all and enjoy the company you've come with!
We LOVE El Rancho Pequeno! They were kind enough to allow us to have our wedding reception on this hidden gem in the foothills of the Rockies/Snowy Mountain Range. So in addition to 11 people staying at the ranch for 3 nights, we had an additional 50 people come for an evening casual cookout reception. There was ample room for everyone with lots of drifting between the patio and the very comfortable and beautiful open floor-plan of the farmhouse. The kids, adults, and our lab-mix all spent hours playing in the river, fishing, enjoying the vistas and exploring. We were a little late in the season for tubing, but are looking forward to giving that a go next time around. We appreciated the well-stocked, generously appointed ranch. It was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable and the eclectic decor was great! No cookie-cutter 'western ranch' standard decor, but it still maintained a sense of place. The owner was immediately available by phone when questions arose about the oven and was always quick to respond to inquiries via email in the days/weeks preceding our stay.
The ranch isn't visible from the road, so it feels very private and the road accessing the ranch is not heavily traveled.
There was little to no light polution (Jelm Observatory is minutes away for that very reason), so the star-gazing was phenomenal. Our visiting East Coasters were astonished - Milky Way, shooting stars, the works.
By the end of our stay everyone in our group was discussing when we could come back again. Family that hadn't come to visit us in 5 years of living in this area were suddenly planning on visiting us again next summer! :)
I spent a wonderful day of fishing on your stretch of the Laramie River. I can't express what a beautiful section of the river that is. Along with the beauty that surrounds the river, the brown trout were plentiful and eager to go after both a dry fly and a nymph. Although both the river and the trout are challenging, this is the way fishing for wild trout is supposed to be. Thank you for the opportunity to fish your wonder wild trout river.
