Sant Antoni House Rental Photos and Description
Sleeps 10 (5 bedrooms )
What an idyllic location for a truly unforgettable holiday. Lying near the mouth of Mahon harbour, you will find the unique Villa Gloria sitting peacefully on the edge of the waterfront, blessed with a jetty. No need to drive a car on this holiday. At a small extra charge you can use the motor boat (seats 7/8) that lives in the boathouse below to explore all that Mahon Harbour has to offer by day or night. What heaven to arrive at a waterside restaurant by boat and know that you can return without having to drive home! (boat for harbour use only) The spacious roof terrace has spectacular views over the harbour and has its own covered newly refurbished kitchen. The jetty is suitable for ribs or boats up to 15ft to be moored alongside. The sparkling swimming pool, which has under water lights, overlooks the harbour. The sea water in front of the house is wonderful to swim in or if you would like a large sandy beach you only need travel 3kms to Cala Mesquida. The house is situated at the end of a dead end road so is peaceful.
What is there to do?
With a little notice it is easy to charter a large powerful speedboat for wake boarding, etc., or sun seeker/sailing boats. You can fish in the harbour. There are quality tennis courts 10 minutes from the house at the Malburger Sports Centre. Other local activities including riding, go-carting and Son Parc Championship golf course, only 20 minutes from the house. There is a wonderful Museum and beautiful old fish market, the local produce is mouth-watering.
Menorca has recently completed its historic bridal path - “Cami de Cavalls” - which quite literally runs around the entire island. This offers a superb opportunity for horse riding, walking and cycling around some breathtaking and varied coastal and countryside routes.
For those who don't know Menorca, compared to Majorca it is a smaller island is less built up and has managed to retain its own charm. You can explore any of the 120 sandy beaches - it is an enchanting shoreline with innumerable coves and inlets in which to snorkel and fish. Wonderful undulating green countryside, quaint and quiet villages, unspoilt market towns, sweeping sandy bays, with an unhurried tempo that pervades the unspoilt island.
It is also a very interesting island with a big history and many archaeological sites of interest to explore. And what better way to start exploring the Balearic Island than its idyllic capital Mahon. An historical town perched on a hill overlooking the ancient harbour has the distinction of being the largest natural harbour in the Mediterranean. The town itself is lively, yet at ease with itself, with a tangible colonial feel alluding to a time of British occupation in centuries gone by. Mahon will inevitably beguile you with its small town charm, but not without its many heavenly boutiques.
Menorca was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

Guestbook comments from the owner
My family and I have just finished a simply wonderful holiday in your villa. The setting is magical and all the staff seemed like old friends by the end of the first day. Helen could not have been more helpful, right down to the provision of fresh lemons straight from the tree for my evening gin and tonic. She was a fountain of local knowledge and arranged everything simply and smoothly. We had two cooks, Rosa and Carlo, both of whom were masters of their art. It is a testimony to their skill, that my two nieces aged 7 and 5 ate everything they put in front of them.
Special mention must also go to Eva, the masseuse. I have had a problem with my neck for the best part of a decade. No Harley Street chiropractor or osteopath has ever been able to sort it. Two sessions with Eva and everything has clicked back into place leaving me feeling rejuvenated.
I understand that we have been particularly lucky with the weather. Sun drenched days all week. Thank you so much for sharing your home - and I use the word home advisedly; that's exactly what it felt like and why none of us wanted to leave. I hope we will be back before too long.
My family all love Menorca and we have spent all our family holidays enjoying Mahon harbour and the surrounding area. We continue to go out to Villa Gloria with friends and family every year because it is so very special there. I am an interior decorator as well as being a sculptor so I get great pleasure in making the house look gorgeous!
Why this property? Who would wish for any other! Villa Gloria is one of the original houses build on the waters edge of the harbour. Although there have been many updates to the house parts of it remain in its original state, because of this, naturally the house can be a little damper than a town house would be!
Water, water everywhere!
