We had such a lovely stay is this darling cottage, just about a 5-10 minute walk from downtown Woodstock. We traveled in from New York City by bus and were able to enjoy the cottage and the town all without a car. The cottage is equipped with a usable kitchen, so we took advantage of farmers market and made a couple of our own meals and enjoyed them on the patio. Lovely setting and stay! We will be back.
This was my first trip to the town of Woodstock, and I stayed in this pleasant cottage for a week. It is a clean and comfortable little place which is located in the back of a large lot behind the owner's home in a VERY quiet neighborhood. It was so quiet and peaceful there that sometimes it seemed like I was out far away from civilization! One morning I looked out and saw a deer just outside the cottage. Although I felt like I was worlds away in peaceful seclusion, I was conveniently located on the edge of town within walking distance of the center of Woodstock. The Upstate Cinema, which is a small church-like structure that screens independent films, is a five-minute stroll away. Rick's Wood-Fired Pizza--which I recommend--is next to the little cinema. I really enjoyed walking through the quiet neighborhood to the little cinema to watch a film in the evening. Walking into the center of Woodstock (or, for me, riding my bike) was a pleasant experience, and I didn't have to worry about parking the car anywhere in the center of town. Adjacent to the cottage is a rather large artist's studio, and I think it is available to rent as well. All of this is under the shade of the large trees on the lot. And last but not least, the owner, Barbara, is a very pleasant person who made sure that everything was perfect for my stay. She was not there during the weekdays while I was there, but I had the chance to talk to her briefly on the weekend when she came up from the city. Before I arrived, she had given me her number in NYC if I needed anything during the week, but there was no need, as the cottage was prepared perfectly for my week-long stay. I loved my vacation here at this little place in Woodstock, and I've already told Barbara that I'll likely come back next year!
This sweet little cottage is a hidden gem. Nestled just off the main road, it feels like you are secluded yet just steps from the town, restaurants, and local theaters.
Looking forward to visiting Woodstock again & will definitely stay here again.
My wife and I stayed in this charming little cottage and (with the owner's permission) also used the adjoining artist's studio for half of July. It was wonderfully cozy and comfortable--a brand new bathroom!--and fantastically convenient to everything we wanted in the area. It's a 5-minute walk to the center of town, a 10-minute walk to a cool swimming hole, a very close to excellent bicycling routes. But the property was also quiet and self-contained--magnificently overhung with old trees. We'd rent it again in a heartbeat. A real gem.
