Excellent secluded getaway opportunity! Convenient to Cooperstown All Star Village for baseball tournaments.
We had a marvelous time! The view is incredible and the small amount of snow that fell made everything more scenic. The sun was shining every day, making our hikes around the meadow very enjoyable.
We had a couple of cozy fires and enjoyed our family time in the living room watching the snow fall! (And playing poker!)
This beautiful cabin was the perfect spot for us to meet for a family holiday :)
We rented this home to have a family reunion over the holidays and could not have been more pleased! It was spacious enough for everyone - an absolute perfect home. The homeowners have thought of everything and have labeled every cabinet and drawer which made it easy to navigate through the fully stocked kitchen. The sunroom was a huge bonus! What a gorgeous and scenic room!
My friends and I wanted to have a snowboarding trip so we rented this house for the weekend. I loved it so much! so many rooms, plenty of entertainment in the living room and in the basement. It was an hour drive to the ski resort which wasn't too bad really.
The only thing I'd have to say was that the key was missing. We had to use the spare key but it worries me where the other key must have gone..
i would definitely like to return in a different season. it's a great getaway for a bunch of friends or a big family.
I recently spent a weekend away at this lovely home. I can honestly say that this home was a wonderful getaway. I took a trip with 13 other women, and this home proved to be warm and inviting.
For starters, the property is absolutely breathtaking. We were there during the snowfall, and even covered in snow, the view was spectacular.
There is ample room to play football, take a stroll, explore, etc.
As far as the accommodations go, there are many beds spread throughout the house, if you are looking for a place to sleep. If you are hoping for individual rooms, this may not be the BEST for a large party. We preferred this layout because we wanted the weekend to be intimate and cozy, so we did not mind sharing beds, etc.
There are only two bathrooms in the main house, so that is one slight issue, particularly when staying with so many people.
The house is very well kept, and the owners provided firewood, linens, clean towels, and the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, pots and pans, and even spices.
I cannot wait to come back to this little getaway during the summer months.
First time meeting father's side of family via genealogy research and needed a comfortable, neutral place to have the gathering. Myself and brother from the west coast staying on site, 3 from local areas and 3 the states of Maine, Pennsylvania and Maryland. The property, house, scenery and layout made it the perfect place to gather and share. More than enough room to accommodate the BBQs, cooking and entertaining that was done. And myself, being from a coastal area in California, was quite excited and intrigued with the local visitors each day; wild turkeys, deer and birds.
Only thing I would recommend is perhaps upgrading of the furniture cushions. They are worn and made sitting for longer periods of time a bit uncomfortable. The sun room turned out to be everybody's favorite place and a good deal of time was spent relaxing, talking and viewing the wonderful sights. Our ages ranged from 55 to 73 so you can see why having comfortable seating arrangements would be significant. An excellent place to go get away from it all and flow with the incredible zen that is there.
In town there is a magnificent maple factory, Baker's Maple Syrup. They pack, ship, arrange for informational tours and have amazing products. Everywhere from granola, 3 different syrups, candy, tshirts, sweatshirts and maple leaf stain glass. All locally made of course. Yum, and will be doing Xmas shopping through them too!
A great big thank you to Don and Karen for making this adventure easy and smooth, their availability is second to none. Nice folk.
This was the second year we all gathered at the Mountaintop Retreat. Four generations together . This place is wonderful. The grand kids love the frog pond and the fire pit. The place is so spacious that everyone is comfortable . We have enjoyed good weather and rainy weather and still had a great time. We are anxious to rent it again next year . My one grandson wants us to stay a whole week next time..The view is outstanding , everything you need is provided , and it is a great retreat. Don and Karen have thought of everything and our very gracious and attentive hosts...
There were eight of us and a small child celebrating my 40th birthday and we all had an AMAZING time. The house was well-kept, spacious, large enough for all of us, and provided great views of the property...especially the glass/screened in area. What makes this place special is the view. You can see for miles and miles and feel like you are in your own little world. Everywhere you look is beautiful--mountains, forest, a pond, etc. We just sat outside for hours (even in the rain, with a pop-up canopy). The pond has a paddle boat that was surprisingly relaxing--just peddle a few times and float and repeat. We all agreed that we would love to come back again. As a side note to future guests--make sure you bring your own paper supplies. All the utensils, dishware, and cooking appliances are there, but things like paper towels and toilet paper are limited (I'm assuming just left overs from previous guests). This is not a complaint, just a heads up. Overall, a great place. The pictures don't do it justice. Totally relaxing and chill. You won't be disappointed!
