Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

By chance I saw this pied a terre, with its exquisite decor and excellent reviews and knew this was the home away from home I was looking for. My stay in Paris was for five weeks so I needed to be sure I found a place that was safe, comfortable and cozy. It was not a disappointment.

Every creature comfort was met in this lovely apartment, and should I have needed anything I'm sure Sophie would have seen I received it.

Five weeks can be a long time, but I honestly didn't want to leave as I felt so at home here. At the end of a long day, returning tired to my apartment, I looked forward to the comfort and convenience this place offered me. Wonderful bed, fine crispy clean linens, international (USA) telephone use, fully equipped kitchen.

Sophie is warm, welcoming, hospitable, and kind. She is also knowledgeable, and experienced with giving tips and info on Paris. On top of this, she will teach you to bake the best Tuille cookies in her own kitchen.

The neighborhood offers many fine restaurants, Verjus, Ellsworth, Juveniles, Willys Wine Bar and the au Caveau Montpensier all within steps of your front door. Having rented in other arrondissements this is now my favorite the 1st. Convenient to everything.

Sophie and her husband Francois made me feel like family. Next year I may even stay longer.

First Time to Paris (and not the last)

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I went to Paris for our wedding anniversary. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay than at what we affectionately call, Sophie's Paradise. The location is centrally located in Arrondissement #1 on a very quiet street. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous with room for 2. It is furnished beautifully with a nice bath and kitchen area. By the way, the bed was quite comfortable. We ate every meal out but the kitchen was well equipped. Sophie was a joy and extremely helpful with directions and help. She even took an hour of her day to show my husband how to make her homemade Almond Tuile. She had a fruit, baguette, bread loaf and the tuile waiting for us. We would highly recommend her place because of the location and how warm the place felt. Hope to come back very soon and meet her husband, Francois.

Location Amazing! Owners Caring and Awesome! Room Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I will start this review with a story...My mother and I went to Versailles before arriving at the apartment. Well during our visit our car was broken into and all my mothers medications were stolen, along with other things but those were the most important. When we arrived at our Paris apartment and told Sophie and Francois what happened they took immediate action! Sophie took my mother to the pharmacy and got her new medication and Francois offered to go with me to the rental car office and told me all the laws and what to say to make sure they did not take my deposit. REALLY TRULY AMAZING HELPFUL PEOPLE! Now onto the apartment...it is sooo cute and perfectly located! It is comfortable and has everything you would need for your stay, including fresh baked pastries. You will not be disappointed with the apartment or the owners. Sophie also helped me realize my dream of one day also becoming a student of the Louvre and the Louvre is literally a stones throw away!

A Truly Remarkable Parisienne Experience

  • 5 of 5

Sorry for the delay on the timing of this review - should have done it as soon as we returned to the States. This rental is so much more than a "rental". My daughter and I were finishing up a wonderful trip of two weeks post her study abroad experience in Spain. I had booked and planned the trip from Seattle while she was in Madrid trying to give us enough time in the cities we wanted to visit with a final two nights in Paris as we were flying back to Seattle from Paris. The weather was horrible the two days we were there and we didn't even care as we were so happy to be in our beautiful pied-a-terre. We arrived at the door to the building, a bit unsure if we were in the correct place. We called the number of our host and were instantly met by Sophie and whisked up to her beautiful apartment with her husband Francois. Our room wasn't quite ready yet so they gave us a tour of their beautiful space and then sat us down for a typical French breakfast of baguette and jam - they were simply the best! As soon as the room was ready, we were shown our lovely "home away from home" and instantly fell in love. The location couldn't be better, so close to all public transportation, perfect walking distance from many sites and just a delight to know you are staying in the Palais Royale! The decorations were so very French, the bedding was sumptuous and we loved the fact that it was a split Queen and we could electronically set our own side of the bed exactly as we wanted to. The kitchen had just enough of what we needed as we "ate in" one night by picking up prepared food at local markets. The area couldn't be safer, as two women traveling alone, we never felt uncomfortable - quite the opposite. We wanted to specifically eat escargots when we were there and Sophie went through the internet on our behalf while we were out siteseeing and found us three places that fit our desires - then helped us to call them and make a reservation at one of them. And it was the perfect dinner, the last one of our perfect trip. We could not recommend this place more highly. It absolutely deserves all 5 stars. If you are two people, whether a Mother/Daughter, two good friends or a couple - this IS the place for you! Enjoy!

Everything the previous reviewers have said is absolutely true. This rental deserves all 5 stars. Everything, including spot-on location, well-appointed interior, comfortable bed, quiet street, gracious and helpful hosts, and ease of booking make this one of the best rental experiences we've ever had. I almost wish to keep it a secret!

overdue review from November 2013

Even though it's been over a year, I wanted to take the time to write about the weekend we had to celebrate my husbands retirement from work. The room was decorated beautiful and very comfortable. We loved our time at this rental. Both hosts were friendly and gracious. Kathy and Christy McQuillan Dublin, Ireland/Stillwater MN
