Moloaa Bay is a small, secluded community on the northeast shore of Kauai. The beautiful crescent shaped bay is a peaceful hide-away, relatively undeveloped and unknown to most visitors. Close to everything but far removed from the hustle and bustle of tourist areas, it is 15 minutes south to Kapaa and 15 minutes north to Princeville and Hanalei.
Private and uniquely situated on one acre, with ocean, garden and mountain views, you will sleep to the sound of the waves in this 400 sq. ft. guest house. Separate from the main house with its own private entry, your house sits behind two multi-million dollar oceanfront homes that are rarely occupied. It is just a few steps to swimming and snorkeling and reef walking at the uncrowded beach.
Private stairs lead up to your beach house, which is 13 ft. in the air and has a large lanai with ocean and milky way night time views. Inside, it has high open beam natural wood ceilings, with ceiling fans and lots of windows. This house is very comfortable, light-filled and spacious with a California king-size bed, partial kitchen, all tile floors, and large bathroom with granite counter top vanity and full glass two person shower. The beach house has a low allergen environment.
The decor transports one to another time, another place in paradise. There is a partial ocean view from all rooms except the bathroom. Ideal for couples who like nature, privacy and the sea.

Kauai is my favorite place on the earth but I love to travel everywhere. In fact I love to travel so much that I may not be home when you visit. When I am here I am in my art studio and I love to meet my renters and afford them info on the island if they desire. Otherwise they are left in exquisite privacy.
Juliette purchased this house in 1996
I chose this spot because it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. It is equidistant between the two ends of the one road that goes 3/4 of the way around the island of Kauai. It is also between the dry side and the wet side so it has advantages of both. We like to keep it a secret.
Our property simply is Perfect - a few steps from the beach but one lot back so there is privacy. One can hear the sea and there is a nice partial view but total privacy. Even though it is isolated, it is near everything one needs or wants and it is away from the hustle and bustle.
Since the moment I got here this place has taken my breath away, stolen my
heart and left me speachless.... as you have done to me twice by sharing your
hale with us. This hale was uplifting for the spirit and the soul. It is so much
more than we ever expected. Between the sound of the ocean, the bird sounds
in the morning and the millions of stars at night we had a wonderful experience
and will be taking back many wonderful memories and a bit of sand. We greatly
appreciate your generosity and for making us feel like "Ohana."
Beautiful home and beach is private and amazing! Owners don't bother you unless you ask for advice on local sight seeing. Will definitely rent this home in the future.
This place was amazing! Jude met us on the first night and showed us around. The pictures online don't do it justice. The guest house is just the right size and was perfect for our stay. We like how secluded it feels from the rest of the island but it was still very accessible and a short drive to anywhere we wanted to go. We loved leaving the windows open and hearing the waves all night. Jude was a great host and helped us completely when we needed things but we never saw her and we felt like we were there all alone! The beach was beautiful and there were only ever a few people there with us. This was our first trip to Kauai and after seeing the whole island we were glad we stayed here. Such amazing scenery and vegetation around this area made it the perfect place for us. We will definitely be coming back and trying to stay here again!
Stayed here for a much too short 5 days. Loved the location of this wonderful guesthouse. It was the perfect home base for the entire island. Close enough to hanalei to drive into town for dinner every night and take advantage of the north shore beaches. Also not far from kapaa and more southern destinations. Nestled in a valley, steps from the water. At times we were the only couple on the bay/beach. Loved falling asleep to the sounds of the water and waking up to the morning roosters. Relaxed to coffee on the elevated lanai every morning. This property is wonderful and everything you need for a great stay on the island.
Overall this place was great and Judith was very kind and accommodating. We were able to cook breakfast with no problems, and aside from a couple of cobwebs up in the exposed rafters, the place was clean and well stocked.
The only thing that keeps me from giving it an excellent rating is the fact that there is a house being built next door, and so the couple of times we were there during the day we had very unanticipated construction noises mixed with the crashing of the waves. While I absolutely understand noises from neighboring properties are entirely out of the owners' control, I feel like a heads up would have been appropriate. For us it wasn't a huge deal, just a little irritating the couple of times we were there during the day, but if we had planned to just lounge about and take afternoon naps, it would have been more of a problem.
Aside from that it really was wonderful, the beach is only a few minutes walk, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is something I miss already. Judith was very sweet, and greeted us with a smile, gave us a quick "orientation" so we would know where everything was, and then provided complete privacy. When my wife and I are able to return to Kauai for another getaway, we will definitely try to stay with Judith again!
We stayed in this rental for 5 nights in late March 2014 and had a great time. The location of this unit was secluded and on a BEAUTIFUL bay and the seclusion meant you would sometimes have the bay to yourself ! I was a bit hesitant on staying here in March as I had heard that the weather can be iffy & the bay not swimmable. I don't know if we lucked out or what, but we had pretty good weather for our time there & swam a few times too. The RIGHT side of the bay is the most beautiful in our opinions fyi.
The host was very friendly and we definitely did not have any privacy concerns. The area is safe and we did not have to lock the doors at all when we left for the day. There were, however, some down sides to this property. We did not address them with the host at the time : We found that every kitchen dish we tried to use was dirty, including the little appliances (coffee press, water kettle etc) were covered in an oily residue. It was a big let down that we were paying a cleaning fee, as did the renters before us, and we ended up having to wash everything ourselves. In the process of washing a wine glass, it broke into a million pieces so I ended up washing the floor in the kitchen as well and the paper towel I was using was VERY black by the time I was done. (we ended up having our wine in coffee mugs which we had to wash first). The windows could also benefit from a cleaning between renters to maximize the sun & view. We are not picky people, however, for this rental that is something I have to note as needing an improvement. There was no BBQ for use which was fine with us. I would also suggest to have the soft sided cooler inside the unit for guests, as we found it outside near the garbage cans filled with water & not usable. There was WiFi in the unit which was great but the signal not very strong (need to sit at the kitchen table to stay connected).
All in all, we enjoyed our stay at this rental & would probably stay again. Moloa'a Bay is extremely nice and we enjoyed the lushness of the surroundings and proximity to the beach(5 minutes walking) You definitely need a car for this location.
We had an amazing time during our stay! Everything about this listing is accurate. We loved our privacy & especially the views of the ocean from the lanai as well as from the roomy shower! We were happy to hear from many locals as we were on the island that we had picked a great location to experience true aloha & Kauai. Highly recommended!
A beach umbrella and beach towels are provided.
