Come stay in an original 1845 Civil War farmhouse. This house was one of the largest field hospitals used by the Confederate army in 1863. This peaceful home has many original features including fireplaces, servant stairs, and original floors in many rooms. There are 3 bedrooms with one and a half bathrooms. All of the bedrooms contain a full size bed. The master suite has full and twin size bed as well. There is an extra twin day bed in the parlor. Overall, the house can comfortably sleep eight. The master suite is equipped with jacuzzi tub also. The laundry center is conveniently located upstairs. There is a covered back patio which runs the entire length of the house. It is great for relaxing, BBQ s, and socializing. The kitchen has microwave, coffeemaker, dishwasher, stove, toaster, and fridge. You can seat eight people comfortably in dining room. The house is a mile away from the town square and battlefield. Shopping for groceries and necessities is easy, as there are many stores including Wal Mart and Giant nearby. Make this your next vacation spot!
We are the Karafa Family. Gettysburg is our home away from home. We love civil war reenacting and the peacefulness yet energetic feel that the town and battlefield have to offer.
Suzanne Hoffman purchased this farmhouse in 2010
We chose this property because we fell in love with the home, history, and area. The house has a rich history. Overall, the property chose us. We would love to share this land and home with others.
The home has many different yet unique features. The Victorian style brick farmhouse sits on green, luscious land with the original dutch barn next door. The history is intriguing, as the house was built in 1845 and the barn a few years later. The home offers a very welcoming, peaceful feeling.
Fascinating place to stay! There was plenty of room in this old historic home for my family. Antique rope bed was actually comfortable! Kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of games to play and Civil War books to read. Location was just outside the noisy center of town but very close to battlefields and reenactment locations. Owners are excellent to deal with and they respond quickly. If you are a history buff or interested in the Civil War, you will not be disappointed by this home.
A group of us were in town for a weekend of Vintage Base Ball fun. We had two couples and two other teammates with us for the weekend and the house worked perfect for us! The back porch area was enjoyed throughout the stay, the rocking chairs and patio furniture are a great place to enjoy your coffee in the morning! Saturday night was perfect and we hosted the team along with their families for a bonfire out back; this was a great location for us during our weekend in town!
