As you enter the driveway of Coyaba you'll be struck by the Caribbean inspired architecture, highlighted by 4 stone and coral sugar mill turrets that add drama and ambiance to this home. As you walk through the front entrance, you'll be amazed by this dramatic space, accented with whimsical life-size sculptures.
A large and luxurious great room is a rich and beautiful air conditioned space, with high end furnishings and elegant dining areas. The kitchen is large and state of the art, and has all the culinary aids you’ll require. A large and inviting breakfast bar invites lounging and conversation. Gorgeous sea views abound from every area.
In a separate building you will find 2 large, elegant and very private guest suites both with king size bedding and exotic touches. Huge and well designed bath and dressing areas adorn each of the suites with amazing round showers accented by native stone walls.
The outside space in Coyaba is just as beautiful, with a large inviting, infinity edged pool and multiple seating and lounging areas, shaded with trellis and umbrellas or open to the warm tropical sun. The panoramic ocean views from this area are amazing from sunrise to sunset, and the feeling of being surrounded by the sea is overwhelming.
Coyaba has premiere location, sitting on a large and very private promontory in one of St. John's most popular and convenient neighborhoods, Chocolate Hole. From this magnificent estate home you will be close to everything, but a world away in your own exclusive paradise.
Coyaba is a non-smoking villa.
We stayed at Coyaba the week of Sept. 14-21. It was phenomenal--the wide-angle lens pictures on the internet just don't do it justice at all!
Eric did a fabulous job of welcoming and acclimating us to the villa and the island. We have worked with many vacation rental companies over the years, as renting a home is our favorite way of vacationing, and I believe Destination St. John did a superlative job in preparing the villa and making us feel very welcome.
Coyaba is luxurious but not too big for one couple, though it would be ideal for two couples vacationing together. Because the most conveniently located hurricane-proof (and nearly people-proof) sliding doors were not operational, it was a bit inconvenient to move between the bedrooms and the common areas, making the layout seem less well-thought-out than it would be if the doors all worked properly. That is the ONLY complaint we have about the place, and I believe the doors are being fixed.
The infinity-edged pool and patio are like something out of a magazine; in fact, my friends thought my vacation pictures were from a magazine.
The bed was comfy and the concept of the guest rooms being separate buildings created a greater sense of privacy, even with only the two of us there. The water pressure in the shower was so low it was nearly impossible to get shampoo rinsed out of one's hair in any reasonable manner, especially being mindful of water conservation. Stronger water flow would have allowed for greater water conservation as long as one follows the rest of the rules about the limited water.
The common areas were very comfortable and enjoyable as well.
The island is a tropical paradise! We were on St. John 11 years ago and always wanted to return. After being there recently, we are talking about annual visits, some with extended family.
Would we return to Coyaba? Absolutely! Any time our travel plans include only ourselves or one other couple, Coyaba will be our first choice.
