Photos and Description of the Georgetown vacation townhome rental
3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Classic D.C. Residence

Our house abuts Glover Park and is built in a neighborhood where sidewalks are shaded by Ginkgo trees and gardens are finely tended to. You will be able to watch the flow of our healthy community while sitting on our porch swing, greeting neighbors who pass by. Inside the house, we have a custom-built bookcase with a large collection of classic and contemporary literature, as well as a synced media system that can play YouTube videos, music and Netflix easily from your iPhone, or with our remote. Our kitchen has remained a modern staple complimenting the vibrant-classic feel of the living room and dining room. The outdoor patio is recently rebuilt and is a tranquil place to kick back with a good Patterson or Foer novel and eat some fresh-grilled delights. Upstairs we have one main bathroom with a tub; a guest room with a double bed, a guest room with a queen-size bed; and a master bedroom with another queen-size bed, boudoir, and side bathroom with shower.

Moving from our house and walking east on Calvert Street will bring you to Wisconsin Avenue, a vein that leads to the bustling commerce hub of Georgetown. At the intersection of Wisconsin and Calvert you will see the Zagat-applauded, Cali-Mex restaurant, Surfside (my favorite) where afterward, you can melt a milkshake at 'Max's Best' homemade ice cream where you might see the Veep eating a cone as his mansion is across the street and beyond the softball field. Enjoy a Sunday date at the 'social' Safeway and walk across the Avenue to look at the wares of the weekly bazaar. Moving south, you can take a tour of the splendid university campus or historic mansions and play tennis on public courts. Further down Wisconsin, you will find boutique clothing shops, antique bookstores and high-end shopping that embody the heart of Georgetown. As the day wanes into night, you could enjoy the view from the waterfront and walk alongside an impressive surviving relic of the American canal-building era, the C&O Canal.

During twilight, the intersection of Wisconsin and M populates with a mixed palette of personas whose evenings may begin at one of the classy tapas restaurants and end at one of the various bars and nightclubs that concentrate at the corner of Wisconsin and M Street and continue dotting north to reach the late-night establishments surrounding Wisconsin and Calvert. These include: Bread Soda - where you can play shuffleboard and eat a nice cheese platter with your drinks; Town Hall for a talented barkeep's taste on a good ol' fashioned; or the young professional nightclub, the Mason Inn, where you can dance and easily walk home from.

A quick cab or bus ride will take you to metro stations at Dupont Circle or Foggy Bottom, where you can access most landmarks in the city easily and reach any of the Smithsonian Museums, National Mall memorials, or the Capitol complex.

About Sebastian Herrick

I am a Washingtonian who was born and raised in this house before moving to Colorado. From Colorado, I went to high school in Maine, then college at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. I finally returned home after college looking for and beginning a career and seem to have found my way in the office of a Congressman from New York. I love this home and all of the memories it has provided both for me and the guests who have stayed within its walls. My prerogative is to share the good feelings fostered within this house with travelers who need a comfortable base when exploring this city.

Sebastian Herrick purchased this townhome in 1983
Why Sebastian Herrick chose Georgetown

This home has provided happiness for family, friends and tenants for the past 34 years. It has become more beautiful after remodeling the kitchen, installing bookshelves, and rebuilding the upstairs, while I have played my part in crafting a new deck and maintaining the property for the past three years.

What makes this townhome unique

I don't know how else to say it: the house has great chi. Neighbors have stopped by just to peek at our overarching dogwood tree and front yard. The lighting is what really does it though. This house has a feel for the dynamics of light and how it makes a room appear lively, especially in the living room and kitchen. Seamlessly moving from sophisticated to modern to comfortable, this house puts together different ambiances to form one unique experience.

We are in a neighborhood close to one of the most active areas of Washington, DC! Walk down to Georgetown for boutique and designer shopping or take a hike through lush and mysterious Rock Creek Park. We are a mile-and-a-half away from the waterfront of the Potomac River where you could catch a massage, movie, and end a warm summer day with a kayak ride. Just up the road is the National Cathedral, and if you would like to brush up on history or enjoy fine art, travel down to the Smithsonian Museums and National Mall where you can immerse yourself in the heart Washington, DC. If you'd like a Capitol tour, I would be happy to arrange this. Also, White House tours are available, though I would need about four months in advance to book as they are in high demand. If you desire a more low-key afternoon, we are close to many coffee and tea shops as well as fine dining restaurants nearby. Even if just walking through our neighborhood on a summer day, you will find our neighbors' front lawns flowing with colorful flowers and well-kept patios, as well as overhanging gingko trees that provide just the right amount of shade.

Our group of 5 retired teachers thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful townhouse. The listing description is very accurate regarding the location, description of the house and its amenities. The house is extremely well maintained and was very clean. The owner was available every time we had questions or concerns. Sebastian was extremely helpful in making recommendations for restaurants, activities and attractions. I would definitely recommend this home!

All the good reviews about this house are true!

I would recommend this property to anyone visiting Washington DC. It is the perfect place to put your feet up at the end of a day exploring the museums and Capitol and of course, the Library of Congress. It has all the amenities of home, and a great kitchen, but if you want to eat out there are places right around the corner, too. It is convenient to public transportation and very safe. The owner has done a great job of decorating, and maintaining the house. I give it a hearty 5 stars.

First DC Experience

5 of 5
Submitted: May 2, 2013 Stayed: May 2012
I visited Washington DC with my wife last year for the Cherry Blossom Festival. We greatly enjoyed our visit and the owner was more than accommodating. The home is located in a beautiful, quiet part of the city yet is a walk away from dining and entertainment. The owner was always available for recommendations and would check in to make sure we had everything we needed. Our trip was better then we could ever of imagined. We will be back very soon!

Perfect Girls' Weekend, Wish We Could Have Stayed Longer!

Perfect Girls' Weekend, Wish We Could Have Stayed Longer!

Sebastian ensured our stay was wonderful -- and everything about this rental was stellar, from his friendly response to my initial email, to his making sure we had what we needed, to his detailed instructions for everything we might want for in the house, to the gorgeous furnishings and spotless surroundings, to the friendly follow-up... I can't say enough. My two college friends and each of our daughters (mine's a GW freshman) stayed here for only two nights, sadly... wish it were more! It's a lovely home on a pretty street, just steps away from the bus stop, convenient to G-town and DC. My daughter has a few more years in school so I hope to return and experience the warmer weather on the porch swing and back deck :D . Thanks again, Sebastian, for taking such great care of us.

Fabulous Stay and Service

5 of 5
Submitted: April 11, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
I went up to DC for a weekend with my girlfriends, and we were all extremely impressed and happy with our accommodations. The pictures and description accurately describe the property, which is situated in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of street parking. The home was charming and comfortable, and the kitchen was fully stocked with all the tools and appliances you could need. The owner was so helpful in offering to provide any tourist information/recommendations about the DC area and was very prompt in responding to all inquiries before and during our stay. As a bonus, he left a bottle of wine and chocolates for our crew to enjoy upon arrival, which we all know is a perfect welcome for upper twentysomethings on a girls trip.
