The beaches in Montenegro are nearby and tend to be of coarse sand/pebbly with some having fine sand. 20 min drive to the famous Jaz, Trsteno. 30 min drive to the beaches and crystal clear sea of the walled town of Budva. 40 min drive to the iconic island of Sveti Stefan and Petrovac beaches. Lake Skadar is ~1 hour drive and has some of the most beautiful scenery. A huge bird sanctuary with regular boat trips around the lake for bird watching or for fishing. The capital Podgorica is ~ 90 min drive. Prcanj makes a fantastic base from which to explore the many historical sites and outstanding natural beauty of the area. Taxis are widely available and a regular bus service could take you very cheaply to the towns of Kotor, Perast, Herceg Novi, Budva and Tivat. There are shops, bars and restaurants all within a few minutes walk. Just outside the walls of Kotor old town is a daily market with mainly local fresh organic fruit and vegetables with a couple of stalls selling meat and cheese.
