This comfortable studio apartment is in the north wing of a 200-year old Maison de Maitre situated in stunning Charente countryside. Based on the first floor with own private access, the open- plan room is well furnished with a double bed, kitchenette area for light food preparation, dining area, shower, toilet and seating to watch television. A large arched window gives the apartment an incredible view of beautiful forests and hills, which stretch into the distance. There is outside seating for dining al fresco and also a BBQ for cooking outdoors. The gardens are extensive and beautiful with many interesting plants and flowers. The giant and ancient Chestnut tree is particularly impressive. There is a large swimming pool for cooling off on sizzling hot summer days, and other entertainment available like table tennis, badminton and art barn for children. The owners have a large DVD film collection, which is available to guests to borrow free of charge during their stay.

Located in beautiful rural France. Great for cycling, walking. Fishing lake & tennis courts less than 5 mins drive away. For water sports we are close to lakes Lavaud & Mas Chaban, (20-25 min drive) 2 neighbouring lakes coverng 350 hectares, perfect for canoeing, rowing, sailing catamarans, ride on pedaloes, dinghies or sailboards and 2 fine beaches for lazing around. Take a 15min drive to La Rochefoucauld castle, housing one of the most precious staircases in the Charente! About 1h drive away to the west is Cognac, mid-july is the Cognac Blues Festival with a range of concerts and events along the Charente. Angouleme a 40min drive away is a town of art & history. It is also know as the of capital 'comic strip' and the city of festivity visit - see info on the annual vintage car ralley, music festivals, art festivals and for foodies... food festivals!! General Information: The children's Art Barn has a number of different art materials to suit all ages; ranging from play dough & poster paints to modelling clay & mosaic materials. There is a small charge for this, payable during stay. Price depends on materials used, about 5 to 10 euros a day. Small children will need to be supervised. We have 2 cots available for either small babies, up to 3 months or for 3/4 mths+, plus bedding. For winter lets, we have central heating in apartment to keep you snug & warm! The owners have a substantial DVD movie collection, which is available to guests to watch in their room. Good selection of children's films, action/adventure, comedy, romance, documentary and drama. All can be borrowed free of charge.

Lonf term lets: If you're looking to buy a property in France, and need long or short term accommodation to rent in Charente. Then we offer competitive rates. We are open all year round, and during the winter months we have central heating upstairs. There is minimum winter fuel charge. Please ask if you require further details.

Golf: There are golf clubs in; Ecuras close to Montbron, Pillac near Montmoreau, Angouleme, Cognac, St Junien

Great stay!!

My wife, our 8 month old daughter and I stayed with James and Tasmin in August 2009. We stayed in the newly renovated apartment that sleeps two. The accomodation has recently been refurbished and you will find everything you need, cooker, over, fridge, utensils, tv etc.
Obviously the apartment is not that big but for two adults and a baby it is perfect. The landscaping is very well maintained and it was a pleasure reading a book in the enormous garden, swim in the pool or use the BBQ in the evenings.
James and Tasmin are very hospitable and they will go the extra mile to make their guests feel comfortable and at home. They were never to busy to answer any questions we may have or assist us in any other way.
A great place to relax, we will recommend and return for a visit in the future!!
