Wi-Fi, For your relaxation move out to the large deck for grilling your favorite steak. This home, situated right outside Springfield, is the perfect place to relax, see the sites and enjoy nature.

About Wanda Kunz

This home was built by the owners parents. He moved there when he was 12 yrs old. After the passing of his parents, we purchased the home and renovated it. We have always lived in the Springfield area. We live within 2-3 miles of this home. Owner is a licensed real estate agent in the state of Illinois.

This private retreat is just minutes from the capitol and all of Abraham Lincoln's tourist sites. It is within minutes of Illinois State Fairgrounds, Abraham Lincoln Museum & Library, Lincoln's Tomb, Lincoln's Home, New Salem State Park, Illinois State Capital, Dana

Thomas House (Frank Lloyd Wright), Memorial Medical Center & St. John's Hospital, SIU School of Medicine, and University of Illinois at Springfield, For nature lovers, hunters and fisherman, this home is the perfect place. Lincoln Memorial Gardens, is situated on beautiful Lake Springfield, showcases prairie flowers and other plants indigenous to the Midwest landscape. Lake Springfield, is the perfect place to spend your afternoon fishing, boating or water skiing. Barbecue pits, softball fields, and playgrounds abound around the lake for enjoying family gatherings. Children will enjoy spending the afternoon seeing the animals at the Henson Robinson Zoo. Lake Sangchris is well known for its excellent fishing. Site M, (Jim Edgar Panther Creek-State Fish and Wildlife area) which is a 16,550 acre park with it's 5000 acre lake, is just 40 minutes down the road.

Thank you, Wanda and Rusty, for opening your home to us. We found everything as described. Wanda welcomed us when we arrived and took us on a tour. There was ample space for our children in one room, grandma in another, and one room for us. Because of the rain we didn't bar-b-q but what a fantastic option! We had indeed a quiet 4-day-vacation with day trips to Sringfield sites (Lincoln Library and Museum, Lincoln Home, Dana-Thomas House, and Lincoln Tomb), New Salem, Mark Twain sites in Hannibal, and the St. Louis Arch, Botanical Gardens, and City Museum. Also, again, we are so sorry for accidentally breaking your floor lamp and thank you for being more than understanding. You've been great hosts and we would love to visit again.

We had a group of nine - 5 adults and 4 kids - and the house was roomy enough for all of us. The beds were comfortable, the house is very clean, and we enjoyed hanging out together there.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Worked great for us

This property worked great for my four sisters and me to spend a weekend together. Aside from seeing the Presidential Museum (which was great), we spent the time at the house visiting with each other. The house had all the amenities we needed, and the fact that it is in a more or less rural setting was fine. It was very clean and comfortable. Wanda was attentive to our needs and we knew we could call her if anything unexpected came up.

great family house

We rented the house for a 4h trip. We had 3 adults and 7 kids. The house was immaculate. The kids had a great time playing hide and seek. Great location near fairgrounds.
