Photos and Description of the Brinnon vacation house rental
Hood Canal Waterfront view of Hood Canal, Dabob Bay, Mt Rainier, and Mt Baker.

This Hood Canal vacation rental is a wonder to behold: Olympic National Park at your back door, and the Dosewallips Wildlife Estuary right in front. You'll see many birds native to the Pacific Northwest including bald and golden eagles, heron, geese, ducks and more. Orca whales, seals with their pups and river otter frequent the waters in front of you and from time to time the Brinnon Elk herd may visit the yard.

A new six-person jetted spa overlooking the water allows you to take it all in while relaxing in warmth and comfort. Large upper and lower decks provide a sweeping view of Hood Canal, Dabob Bay, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker. Private stairs to the beach with a large dock allow you to play, swim, fish or take the provided canoe out for a ride. At low tide, approximately 29 acres of previous oyster farm is available for the picking; and plump juicy oysters are wonderful done on the grill!

Just a short walk down the road is the famous Geoduck Restaurant Lounge, voted #2 'Best Bars in the U.S.' by Esquire Magazine.

The just-remodeled home boasts an amazing 2,830 square feet of beautifully appointed living that can comfortably sleep up to 12 guests. The master bedroom stretches across the entire top floor of the home in a loft style. Additionally, we have outfitted the main floor with an upgraded queen-size sleeper sofa, and we offer a folding-style crib for those traveling with little ones.

About Tammy Kreger

My husband and I bought this home in 2003 for the purpose of retiring early and living there. We're not ready to retire quite yet, and decided that we would really like to share this lovely home and the surrounding beauty with others!

I am proud and happy to say that I have lived in the Puget Sound area my entire life. One of my favorite pastimes is traveling. I have visited every continent, 60 different countries, and taken 37 cruises (so far!). Because I have spent so much time traveling, I truly have a good understanding of guests' needs and wants.

Even though I am happy to have seen so much of the world, I am always grateful to return to an area as gorgeous and diverse as the Pacific Northwest. I could choose anywhere in the world to retire to, but I have chosen Brinnon, Washington on Hood Canal for many reasons. Once you have visited this area, you will see why!

Tammy Kreger purchased this house in 2003
Why Tammy Kreger chose Brinnon

I chose this particular property because of the outstanding sweeping view of Hood Canal and Dabob Bay. There is also a great view of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker.

My husband and I are big seafood fans and love all of the wonderful shellfish available to pluck from our beach. We also like to take advantage of the private dock for setting out to shrimp, crab and fish.

We can't imagine a more beautiful environment to vacation in. It truly is 'Nature's Paradise!'; so we hope you'll come and enjoy it for yourselves!

What makes this house unique

The 29-acre privately-owned beach is covered in the tastiest, most plump oysters on the canal (this particular area used to be an oyster farm). The tidelands also have many species of clams including butter, horse, and geoduck clams. Some of the best dungeness crabbing can be done directly in front of the home.

You are welcome to take the provided boat off the dock and put some crab pots in it to take out.You can simply paddle out a short distance and place the pots for fetching later in the day. My husband and I do so and catch our limits easily! Some of the best Hood Canal Spotted Shrimp are also caught in the waters in front of the home.

It is also fascinating to watch the nuclear submarines practice in the waters out front of the home 2 or 3 times a week. Bird watching is another fun and relaxing experience from our 1,600 square-foot upper and lower decks, and from the dock.

Often I enjoy watching the Brinnon Roosevelt elk herd graze in the Dosewallips pasture lands right from my decks. Sometimes the elk actually come to my yard and graze on my landscaping!

Excellent Scrapbook Retreat

5 of 5
Submitted: April 21, 2013 Stayed: April 2013
Once again we had a wonderful time at this lovely location for our twice annual scrapbook retreat. The weather was ever changing which meant we saw sunshine, downpours, rainbows and fog! The hummingbirds and eagles were also there to entertain us. The new bedrooms downstairs made this even better for all of us, gave us nice quiet places to sleep, while others could stay up to the wee hours scrapbooking and talking. This place is absolutely perfect for a retreat for a small group who needs table space, we had 7 comfortably situated and could have squeezed in 1 more! Extra pleasure, got to the meet the owners and they are delightful! And the oysters on the beach? DELISH! Looking forward to staying there again for our next retreat!

Owner's Response: We were so pleased that you enjoyed Nature's Paradise again and were able to enjoy our three new bedrooms. The new bedrooms have the flexibility to be set up as king size beds or extra long twin beds. We shopped for extra comfy mattresses, sheets, and bedding to make everyone feel right at home, not just the guests staying in the master bedroom. It is amazing how fun it is to watch nature when you stay at our home. You mentioned when we met that your group saw our Brinnon elk herd, sometimes part of the herd even comes through our yard, it is very exciting. We will look forward to welcoming you and your scrapbooking group back for your next get together at Nature's Paradise, thank you again! Tammy Kreger, Owner of Nature's Paradise on Hood Canal

For the Nature and Seafood Lover

Our party of seven made the most of our stay, including catching our limits of Dungeness crab and picking up oysters at night on the gravel beach. The home includes all the equipment needed, including boats, crab pots, bait, boots, gloves, headlamps, oyster knives, a crab cooker, crab crackers & picks & a grill, but we also brought some of our own gear. It is a beautiful setting just south of Dosewallips state park. We enjoyed the view, the sunrises, nearby hiking, the hot tub, the amazingly well-equipped kitchen (including the waffle iron), the big dining room table, the flat screen TV which has a USB port, the fireplace and the comfortable beds. I will be curious to see what the upcoming remodel will add to the bottom floor.

Owner's Response: It makes me extremely pleased that you and your group had such a wonderful time. It is my goal to have my home well equipped for my guests to do whatever makes them happiest. Most of my guests are from out of state and out of the country, with luggage restrictions it is hard to bring with you much. I want my guests to experience things that they may not be able to do at home. Most of all I want my guests to return again and again. I am working hard to always keep improving Nature's Paradise with comfort and amenities. Thank you for enjoying my home and I will look forward to your return and you can tell me what you think of our newest remodel.
Thank you Tammy Kreger, Owner of Nature's Paradise on Hood Canal

Amazing place for a scrapbook retreat!

We rented this lovely home for our twice yearly scrapbook retreat and it was perfect! Plenty of room for 8 of us to scrapbook or read or write or just watch movies. The setup is wonderful, because from virtually any vantage point in the dining or living room, you can either see the TV or the amazing view outside (which came complete with seals, birds of all kinds, boats, and the hummingbirds were so cool!). There is LOTS of room for spreading out downstairs as well as upstairs, and the kitchen is roomy and absolutely the best stocked of any we've rented. The owner made the entire process painless and enjoyable, and we thought the fresh flowers and handwritten note were an esepcially nice touch. Thank you for making our retreat absolutely perfect, we will be back! (P.S. The Geoduck just down the street also has amazingly delicious food!)

The views are unbelievably gorgous! There are fantastic views of Hood Canal, Dabob Bay, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Baker from every floor and the multiple decks and dock. The home is cozy with it's open floor plan and wood stove. I have really enjoyed exploring the Dosewallips Estuary and the 29 acres of tide lands. It is easy access to the beach by walking down the stairs which have railings on both sides, The stairs go down to the dock and then to the beach. We have seen so many bald eagles and golden eagles that we can't count them all. My group went to the "secret waterfall" in Brinnon, it was so beautiful that we did not want to leave. The property and house is so peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed eating out at the Geoduck Restaurant and the Halfway House Restaurant. Brinnon is a nice small community with quaint stores where we rented movies. The owner does povide a library including books on hikes in the Olympic Mountains and Hood Canal. The owner has a binder of choices of things to do in the area which I really enjoyed looking at. The house has 3 levels and would be comfortable and private for a big group, it is nice that every level has a full bathroom. It would be so nice to be here with my family during Christmas or other holidays. My favorite food is dungeness crab and the men from our group went out crabbing right in front of the house and used the canoe on the dock. The owner also provided crab pots and crab bait for us to use. We caught 10 crab the first day and 8 crab the second day! We were in heaven and the men had a blast. We stuffed ourselves on crab. We could not believe how many oysters were on the beach. We cooked them on the barbecue and even people in our group that thought that they did not like oysters really enjoyed them.

We enjoyed relaxing in the waterside jacuzzi and the views from the spa were wonderful. We roasted marshmellows in the fire pit and hot dogs. We watched nature at it's best. The house and property is impeccably maintained, the house was very well stocked with everything we needed. We have been to many vacation rental homes in the past and this is our favorite. The owner was very helpful with answering questions promply and every part of our reservation, thank you Tammy we will definitely be back again and again!

Owner's Response: It makes me so happy and proud that you had such a wonderful time at my home and property. The wildlife that we see from the house, decks, dock, jetted spa, and fire pit is incredible. It is like watching the nature channel all day long. It is nice that you checked out the "secret waterfall", and enjoyed the short walk and impressive scenery. Exploring the Dosewallips tidelands and estuary is a fun time by canoe, kayak, or on foot. It is a lot of fun to catch crab, pick oysters, and dig clams from our vast tidelands. There is nothing like the taste of freshly caught shell fish caught by your group and cooked up in my well equipped kitchen. The restaurants in town are very good and it is nice to have a break from cooking. I am so pleased that you are already planning future trips back to my home. Thank you! Stayed with my wife and 2 other couples for a birthday weekend. Nature's Paradise is correct. Perfect place to sit back, relax and take in the enviroment around you. Each couple had ther own floor with a bedroom and bathroom for maximum privacy. House was very well taken care of. The house is big enough to fit 10-15 people comfortably. Went crabbing during the day with great sucess. Stayed up late to catch the really low tide and had plenty of Oysters to choose from. The house was completely stocked, including crab cooking gear, oysters shuckers, ect.. Ate lunch at the Geoduck Lounge and breakfast at the Halfway House, both were good. Wish we had more time to explore. The owner was very helpful and commnucation was great. Absolutely beautiful area and house. We will be staying again. Thank you Tammy!!!

Owner's Response: It makes me so happy that you had a wonderful birthday celebration. I am very glad to hear that you had great luck crabbing and the oysters just cover our beach. It is easy to pick oysters every day of the year since the beach used to be an oyster farm. It is so much fun to watch the changing scenery from our house, decks, dock, and jetted spa. Nature comes to us for our enjoyment. I am so pleased to hear that you are planning on returning. Thank you, Tammy.
