This was our first trip to Galveston, so we did not really know what to expect. The house was newly updated and clean. The owners were easy to work with. We have two children, so we had to change some of the furniture around to make it a little more kid-friendly, no problem. The kitchen was well stocked, but the coffee machine did not work. The kitchen was cute and charming. The full bath was nice; featuring a double head shower with glass tile to the ceiling. The water temp. on one of the controls was difficult to control. The bedding was nice and fairly comfortable. My only complaint is that the home had ants. We had to take the existing ant traps from the kitchen and place them in our kids' room, because they were crawling up and onto the bed. Ants were visible in the kitchen and full bath as well. However, we didn't let it ruin our trip; everything else was fine. We parked in the front, on the road, because the grass was not cut and was rather long in the back, where the existing parking space was. I gave this house a "good" rate because it was newly updated. The house is close to the beach, so we could just walk over, which was convenient...but crossing was a hassle, especially with kids. The houses around this house were not in good shape, and we felt a little uneasy at times. In all, it was a fair vacation for us, at least the house was in apparent good shape and even fairly quiet considering the proximity to the sea wall.
Families with Teenagers,
Owner's Response: We do appologize , the house is new and we were unaware of the ants . The house has been exterminated and will be on a regular basis. I regret you did not call us since we were around the corner., the coffee pot was new as well and would gladly have brought you another one . We really feel like we disappointed you but we did not know that you were that unfamiliar with the island . The house is in the hub and center of everything the island has to offer . The location is paramount to your vacation and most if not all want that area . The homes are older but galveston is very historical and most of your buildings are quite aged . We hope that the age and and what we see as charm does not hinder another trip for you to a really interesting and historical place such as Galveston. Any direction you go from the front door there's some thing entertaining only half a block either direction. We love it here and hope you give Galveston another try . We enjoyed meeting you .
