Winter ski:
Maria Alm is one of three larger villages in the state of Salzburg that comprise the Hochkoenig's Winter Kingdom. The region has 39 lifts that serve 150 kilometers of groomed slopes. The lifts have an hourly capacity of 52000. Maria Alm offers an excellent range of skiing for all levels, with a good mix of blue, red and black slopes and a top station height of over 2,000m. Your ski pass will give you access to some 150km of pistes and 39 lifts taking you into a ski region suitable for all levels of skier! Although the snow record at Maria Alm is excellent, extra snow cannons were put in place in 2004, as well as a new FIS race course on Natrun! The nearest slopes and ski school are only a short walking distance away from the apartment (5 minutes!). Shuttle-bus-station to the main ski-area is nearby too.
For snowboarders, half-pipes and free skiers slopes are available. There is over 40 km (30 km long trail network in Maria Alm alone!) of well maintained cross-country-tracks.

The mountains at the 'Hochkönig' are about 3000 m high - ski-mountaineers will find a wide range of ski tours. There are local mountain guide that can be booked for a half-day/day.
There are 55km of well prepared and maintained winter-hiking-tracks, guided snowshoe trips, tobogganing runs (two of them in Maria Alm 2.5 km and 2 km long), ice curling, ice skating and horse-sleigh rides.
For children, there is a kid’s animation club with activities.
In addition, there are weekly ski-shows and winter village parties.
Riding is popular in the fairytale landscapes of the Hochkönig’s mountain kingdom.
There is a fun summer alpine slide where you from a height of 1600 meters whoosh down through the magnificent landscapes of the Biberg in Saalfelden.
Summer:
Golfers are well catered for in this area with 5 championship courses within a 20 mile radius, the nearest just a 5 minute walk (or 2 minutes by car) from the apartment! The 18-hole course (par 71) was created in 1993 in a landscape surrounded by fragrant meadows against the imposing backdrop of the Steinernes Meer Mountains.
Countless kilometers of cycling and mountain bike trails provide a wonderful way of exploring the glorious countryside. The village of Maria Alm is an access point along the Tauern cycle path and also feeds into the Pinzgauer Saalachtal’s extensive network of cycle paths (the cycle path passes by the apartment). The Mountain bike tracks are well marked and maintained.
There are tennis courts in Maria Alm. Just in case the weather is not perfect there are also two indoor tennis courts in Dienten.
Fishing permits are available from the tourist office in Maria Alm.
