The old town of Kalkan is simply charming. The white washed houses with balcony still retain its traditional character and you will enjoy strolling the cobbled streets which wind down to the water front. The streets are lined with shops that offer you merchandise from clothes, handbags, jewellery to local arts and crafts.
Kalkan has over 100 restaurants. Many has excellent standards serving international cuisine and Turkish food. Some are along the water front and many have roof terrace with fabulous views of the sea which are very popular. There are also plenty of small family run restaurants offering good value for money. Kalkan has a lively atmosphere in the evenings with plenty of bars and cafes open till late. You can sit in the open air and watch the world goes by.
The Lycian coastline is of great beauty and worth exploring by car. It is a must to visit the nearby 18 kilometres white sandy Patara beach. Kas, only 25 minutes away by car is also well worth a visit.
