About Amy

Our family loves spending time at Deer Cliff. We hope you will create great memories as we have.

Amy purchased this house in 2006
Why Amy chose Preston

My husband and I purchased the home in 2006 from my Grandmother, whom in 1947 built this home with Grandpa. We did an addition of a greatroom and have lovingly restored the older portions of the home, that where built by Grandpa. We have saved the original fireplace and woodwork throughout the home, and strived to maintain the authenticity of the craftsmanship that Grandpa put into it, including the real deer antler cabinet pulls.

We and our children have many lovely memories of this home and beautiful Deer Cliff. My mother grew up in this home and I stayed with my grandparents every summer as a child. There is such a feeling of home here.

What makes this house unique

Deer Cliff is located above an old Shoshone Indian campground known as Watercress Springs. The cliff was created by an ancient volcanic mudslide five million years ago. The cliff was named Deer Cliff after some young men from Franklin Fort were sent to obtain meat for the winter. In order to kill as many deer as possible, they surrounded the deer, which made the deer panic and run over the cliff.

The thing that we most love about this home is the river frontage. It is so peaceful to sit on the private front porch and listen the the river. We also love the feeling of privacy. The rock work that was originally done by my Grandfather makes this home truly authentic. The home inside has original deer and elk antler pulls on cabinets and doors, (even on the refrigerator!).

We love being nestled right by Deer Cliff. Everywhere you walk from here is beautiful.

Inside we love the wood burning stove and travertine marble floors. The master bedroom is also very private and quiet. It has its own fireplace. We love waking up with an awe-inspiring view of the river and cliff. The upstairs rooms at night give a clear view of the night sky through the skylights. We can open the windows and hear the river and look out at the cliff. The large front yard is very shady and cool in the summer. In the winter it's a winter wonderland full of beauty. You can snowmobile right out of the driveway and take off up the canyon to Cache National Forest. The boys love the basketball hoop and tether ball. The baby loves the sand and swing.

We all love the peaceful feeling here.

Fun Family Vacation

5 of 5
Submitted: August 18, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
We loved staying at this house. Our family included 10 adults and 6 children (2 of the adults only stayed a couple of nights. The house was very spacious and accommodating to our size. We loved the fact that we could have the children seated around the island in the kitchen while the rest of us sat at the large dinning room table (it seats 10). The beds were very comfortable and bed rooms nice.
We enjoyed the river that was close to the house (for those with small children, the river is not visible from the house and must be approached by walking through a grassy field and then through some trees). We loved the fire pit there and the kids enjoyed roasting marshmallows. The fishing was also good at this spot.
There is a large L-shaped patio that was relaxing to sit under and enjoy the cool canyon breeze. We even set up a sheet on the corner and watched a movie from the projector we had brought. The kids also had fun playing on the grass next to the house.
One of the fun activities we did was to take a short drive to Willow Flat Campground and hike to Willow Springs (0.5 miles). This is a must do hike as the trail goes through some very beautiful areas along the river.
Having a washer and dryer was also great to help us make it for the whole week we were there.
Amy (the owner) is very nice and helpful and was able to answer any questions we had.
This is a great place to stay if you want a quiet get-a-way and relax.
