Your hosts are Ben and Judy, thirty year residents of Necedah, retired, who enjoy meeting new people. Ben is a retired Land Surveyor and Judy a retired Teacher. While they live on the property in another house they respect privacy and are available if there are any questions you may have about the area and your stay.
The rental property was built for aging parents to live in during their retirement years and are no longer living; therefore sitting empty except for visits from family and friends.
Ben's family visited the Necedah area in the 60's-70's and purchased the property in 1976 because they fell in love with the remoteness of the area and the fishing. Ben and Judy were married in 1989 and the property was given to them as a wedding present; it has been their home since. It is close to town (3 miles) and yet far enough out of town to enjoy what living in the country is all about. Seclusion from the main road, quiet star filled nights, wildlife sounds and sightings, as well as, room for gardening.
When you enter this home it is inviting and open. The kitchen has skylights and the living room has vaulted ceiling with windows all along the southern wall (ceiling to floor) for viewing the river and wooded property located on the other side of the river. The living room and kitchen have items placed throughout that have been collected over the years adding a uniqueness to this home away form home.
You can exit to the patio via the back door and step up to an extension of the patio with table, umbrella and chairs for outside dining with a view of the woods and river. The patio is lined with tiki torches and lights for night time enjoyment.
The front porch has a wicker couch and chair for your leisure along with a recliner/rocker.
Had lots of room the pictures don't do it justice! Hunted all day in rain was nice to come back to warm place with dryer to dry our drenched clothes. Not to mention the nice hot bath and great shower. Huge T.V. to watch packer or badger game and premium channels and lots of movies to watch. Staying next year and even going up fishing In summer. Owners nice and helpful in all aspects.
We have rented several properties the past few years, this is one of the best STOCKED and CLEAN properties we have encountered. It is much larger and nicer in my opinion than the pictures depict. We stayed with our 2 granddaughters, 8 & 11, for 4 nights and their parents joined us the last night, we never felt crowded. We wished we could have a full week but more guests were coming in.
The living room is spacious and includes a love seat, sofa, 2 recliners and lots of floor space. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with spices, coffee filters, cleaning supplies, a full size gas stove, full size fridge and dishwasher. There's plenty of cookware, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils and glassware as well as a pantry to put your groceries. The kitchen table easily fits 6-8. The bathroom/laundry room is stocked with plenty of toilet paper, towels and toiletries in case you forget yours. Not only does the bathroom include a claw foot bathtub but also a separate shower. There's air-conditioning, ceiling fans & a wood burning stove to keep you comfortable year round.
There's a strong Wi-Fi signal, a big screen TV with every channel you can think of and a bookcase full of videos and games. Outside there's a fire pit (no need to buy wood, there's a HUGE wood pile), a basketball hoop and a full size Weber charcoal grill. The upper back patio has an umbrella patio set which overlooks the Little Yellow River. The front porch is covered in case of inclement weather with plenty of seating. You will also find a desktop computer if you need to connect with the outside world and did not bring your personal devices.
The owner is very friendly and easy to work with. I was so pleased she expedited our last minute booking. She offered suggestions where to fish and directions to places for swimming and things to do. I would definitely recommend visiting the Necedah Wild Life Refuge and the Buckhorn State Park. It is about 45 minutes or so to the Wisconsin Dells which makes a nice side trip as well. There is a nice playground and picnic area in town. While we brought our own groceries you can find most anything you will need at the Dollar General and Kwick Trip. Fishing licenses are available at the True Value in town and bait is available at the Kwick Trip.
If you are looking for a private, quiet vacation getaway full of old fashioned family fun, nature, near sandy beaches for lake swimming, fishing and boating, this IS the place for you.
My wife and I, our 2 teenage children, and our dog stayed in this lovely cabin.
The accommodations were excellent, everything we needed for out stay was provided, the cabin was spotless and well appointed.
There was plenty of space for all of us, the patio was a great spot to sit and relax.
Our dog was free to roam and loved the property.
Lots of good fishing all around and Buckhorn State park too.
Judy was great and helpful, only wish we could have stayed longer.
We'll be back!!
The accommodations were excellent. It was a great retreat, get away from the city. It was close to state park and wild life refuge. The inside of the cabin was decorated very nicely. It was private and very cozy. There was plenty of room for playing cards and the living room had sufficient seating for a group to enjoy television of the evening. I highly recommend this cabin.
The cabin is lovely, lots of space and the best part quiet. Ben and Judy have furnished the cabin with family collectibles, art work and great "stuff." Great fireplace, and we especially enjoyed the old fashion deep soaking tub. It would be a fun space no matter what season of the year you choose.
Place was awesome...pictures didn't really do it justice. We were close to everything...fishing,dining..etc..I took my adult son's and we had a blast!! My boys caught catfish right outside in the yellow river. You have everything you need, and if you don't they will get it for you!! Very friendly hosts, had lot's of good ideas for fishing or whatever we wanted to go and do. I will definitely be back!!
