The apartment is located right in front of St. Mary Major Basilica, it is between the Esquiline and the Rione Monti.
Esquiline is a multi-ethnic and commercial district, where you can find several restaurants (TRATTORIA MONTI, for instance, is at the end of the street of Alice House and is simply amazing: genuine home made cousine! supermarkets, bakeries (PANELLA in via Merulana is very good and famous!), ice cream/gelato (in particular il PALAZZO del FREDDO, in via Principe Eugenio 65) groceries and so on; is also close to Termini Station (useful because of the 2 lines of metro and the several bus lines) and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, where you can find every day the large, colourful and famous ESQUILINE MARKET.
Rione Monti (10 mins walk from the apartment!) is one of the most ancient district of the city, located between via Cavour, via Nazionale and the Colosseum. It's the neighbourhood for the cool, the young, the vintage, the eclectic; those who want a serving of cobblestone, antique and artisans, with a side order of beautiful brooding artist. Monti is full of lovely hosteria, wine bar, shops and so on!
