|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
We completed our cabin in Spring 2012 and want to make it available for others to enjoy! You can see by the pictures that we spent a great deal of time and effort making our cabin unique, inviting, and enjoyable for all seasons.
The cabin has 3 private bedrooms, all with new, very comfortable pillow-top queen mattresses, as well as a loft serving as the 4th bedroom in which there are 3 (again, new, very comfortable, pillow-top) twin mattresses built into knee walls (we also have several spare twins available at the cabin as well). All bedrooms have light blocking shades as well. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a tub/shower and one with a built in walk-in shower.
Starting at the bottom, the walkout basement has one of the bedrooms, a living area with 60' flat screen TV (with an xbox 360 and many games) and a huge comfortable leather sectional, and an eating area. Just outside the door is a 7 person hot tub (covered), as well as an outdoor sitting area. Completing this area is one of the bathrooms, a mechanical room with washer/dryer, and a one car garage (a rarity in the area and particularly useful during the Sturgis Rally; please be aware we do store vehicles in this with the exception of the rally - if it's use is needed please make arrangements with us prior to your stay).
The main level has 2 additional bedrooms, another bathroom, and a large open living area combining the kitchen, dining, and living rooms. There is another 42' flat screen TV above the large fireplace. Just off this level is a large deck, with natural gas grill, natural gas firepit with surrounding table, and a hanging ski lift chair (from the old Terry Peak red chair lift). An entry / mud room just off of the front entry completes this level and provides storage for boots / coats / etc.
The loft area, as described above, has 3 additional twin beds built into the knee walls, perfect for the kids or single adults. We're still working on furnishing this area, but it currently has a foosball table.
Our cabin has all the amenities you would expect at home (maybe more!) - ample indoor/outdoor seating, comfortable beds, very nice linens, W/D, large screen TVs with satellite TV and gaming console, well-equipped kitchen, on demand hot water (no running out of hot water for showers with larger groups!), multiple eating areas, fire pit, outdoor grill, outdoor seating, ample parking, available garage - I'm sure I'm not listing everything, and you will not be disappointed!
If you are looking at cabins in this area on VRBO, I'm sure you are already well aware of the multiple recreational opportunities available in the area. Our cabin is ~ 1/4 mile from the main lodge, allowing very easy access to skiing/snowboarding, 8 miles to the gambling in Deadwood, 17 miles to Spearfish / Sturgis, and less than 10 miles to Cheyenne Crossing, the start of Spearfish Canyon.
*We require those groups staying at the cabin to be accompanied by at least one renter over the age of 30.
Location, location, location! We chose this lot to build upon as it is very close to the main lodge, allowing our kids/grandkids to walk to the main lodge, offers a good view, and is easily accessible. The area offers ample recreational opportunities in every season, and is in the heart of the Black Hills for easy access to all the famous sites in the area.
Thanks so much for everything! We enjoyed ourselves so much and your home was very comfortable! We had a blast playing Doritos Crash Course!! The kids kicked our butts and very much enjoyed watching us kill ourselves over and over!! We were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes!!
One sad note... one of your plates was killed as well... we didn't realize they weren't microwave safe. So sorry!! Let us know if we owe you anything for that (owner's note - they did not). Thanks again!! Loved our time here... we will be back!
The cabin was exactly what we needed for our three family getaway, with 12 people total. The open spaces fit our group's catching up and the private rooms fit our re-connecting. Great value, a well-maintained home, and very good customer service make this one a fantastic find. It was easy to find, had a well appointed kitchen and was beautifully relaxing.
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful cabin. It had everything we needed, with room for two families to spread out. The decor is charming and the location to Terry Peak was so convenient. You can use this cabin as a place to regroup after sight seeing or skiing, or just spend the weekend relaxing . The owners were wonderful to work with and make sure their guests are taken care of. Thank you!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Justin's beautiful cabin. Everything was exactly as described and even more welcoming in person! Our kids had hours of fun in the loft and on the provided Xbox. Very thoughtful to offer in a family-oriented cabin. Everything was spotless when we arrived, beds were comfortable and linens were nice and towels plentiful. The kitchen was well-stocked. After travelling and sight-seeing during the days, it was so nice to come back to our "home" and relax and have a home-cooked meal. We would highly recommend this rental to families and have already given out the VRBO # to family and friends. It was a wonderful vacation made all the more wonderful for our outstanding accommodations.
3 families + miscellaneous friends stayed here in Summer 2012. Great time and location for northern hills exploring (a bit of a jaunt down 385 for central/southern hills sights). Very clean, modern and higher end place on a great lot. Owner/Justin was very accommodating with the rental and could not have been better. We had 3 toddlers that could easily have been the cause of some damage that Justin mentioned the cleaning service noticed after our departure. Justin was very kind and professional about it. And gave a full deposit anyway - that doesn't happen often!
The cabin was five star with everything we needed. The hot tub and firepit were wonderful to return home to after a full day of sightseeing in the Black Hills (we covered a lot of territory). The cabin was very clean, the owner was easy to communicate with, and the photos were accurate of the cabin. The grandkids enjoyed all the attractions including Mt. Rushmore, the waterfalls between Lead and Spearfish, the swimming at the Aquatic and Rec Center in Deadwood ($1.00/ person open to the public), Story Book Island (free and awesome for little ones), caves, Custer State Park, The Cosmos, the gunfight in Deadwood, and just loving the outdoors, hiking, viewing wildlife, and the beautiful scenery in Black Hills. We would highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation in the Black Hills.
Loved every part of being in Justin's house. Only had to ask a couple questions while we were there, but even then they were very communicable. Everything you could about imagine in a home away from home. I will definitely be back again some day. Our family had a great time getting to know eachother. Looking forward to a reunion. :)
Our cabin is located at the Terry Peak Ski Area, ~1/4 mile from the main lodge. If you are looking at this area, you know that we are a short drive from Mystic Miner,the other ski area, within 5 miles of the Lead Country Club if golfing is desired (many other courses within 1 hour), approximately 10 miles from Cheyenne Crossing, the beginning of Spearfish Canyon, and less than 10 minutes from the gambling and nightlife of Deadwood. Outdoor opportunities abound, including fishing, rock climbing, golf, incredibly scenic drives, all within 30 minutes. Rapid City is less than an hours drive as well, for those flying in or needing a larger town for shopping or the many events at the Civic Center.
