Country living two blocks from downtown on a private drive. South beach is a short bike ride. There are four bedrooms and three full bathrooms. This home sits on a beautiful park-like setting and has a two-stall garage. This home has a wonderful screened in porch. There are two levels which would be perfect for two or three families. We have a laundry room on the lower level. Three bedrooms have king size beds and the fourth bedroom has two twin beds and full size pull out sleeper sofa.
Free parking to all of South Haven's beautiful public beaches.
This home has been in the family for 30 years. Both my husband and I grew up in this wonderful vacation town.
Robin Seltenreich purchased this cottage in 1982
We have stayed in many places, but found RobinsNest to be the cleanest and best equipped for a relaxing and stress free vacation. We were impressed by the location, which is close to everything and situated on a private dead end lane where we could retire after a busy day and truly relax. We had some wonderful times at RobinsNest, but will always treasure the morning coffee in the cute screened in porch and the many special times spent around the neat fire pit. Thank you Robin for sharing RobinsNest with us!! We are looking forward to our return visit.
We had such a great stay. Love the secluded setting of the home. Right in town but appears to be in the woods. Fire pit and outdoor stuff was super. Short bike ride to town on vintage bikes. Love the small touches. Played a lot of ping pong. Beds were so comfy. Spent rainy day in front of fireplace and playing games. Loved having Meijers so close for groceries and loved cooking in the cool kitchen. We used the recipe book!!! Will look forward to the family reunion next year now that we have your wonderful home to rent. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
We just returned from our stay at Robins Nest & had a wonderful time! We found the home & yard, screened porch, all of it great! I did think we would be a little closer in walking distance to town, but never had a problem with parking to enjoy dinner or shopping. The home was great for our grandson with having space to roam & play. The fact that all beach necessities are supplied was great. The kitchen is well stocked with all tools etc. The bedrooms, especially the king beds were heavenly! Having all towels & sheets supplied was nice, as we have been to Michigan before & had to bring our own. So many special memories! Hope to return!
Stayed one week. Six adults & 1 baby. House is quaint-- older farm-style house (I'm guessing circa 1900) w/ lots of charm. Setting was great on a private drive. Easy to find. Was not too far from town, but would've been a far walk to the beach. We did ride the bikes and were thankful they provided them. Loved seeing the old schwinns. :) They had a ping pong table (we never used, but nice to have), great screened in porch, great fire pit with plenty of seating... VERY NICE beach chairs and umbrella... We took a beach umbrella of our own also and were grateful we did. We were happy they supplied beach toys for our 2-yr-old, a beach cooler to tote in the sand so we didn't have to use our own, etc... Kitchen was stocked with plenty of pots, pans and utensils... They did have certain staples also, like spices, sugar (for coffee), etc. the fridge had a lot of stuff in it from past guests, which was nice I suppose, but we were too grossed out to use most of it-- we did use the ketchup and mustard, but avoided things like grape jelly, capers (there were a lot of these???), mayo, butter, etc etc... Fridge could prob used to be cleaned out, in essence. We left items that we had not opened, such as a jar of pickles, some yogurt, etc-- I think those things are fine, but there were duplicates of many things that probably should've been pitched.
Having laundry facilities onsite was very nice also.
My only qualm-- it wasn't the cleanest place ever... It's an old house in the woods... I get it... But there were bugs, spiders and spider webs... The amount of spider webs alone made me want to buy a swiffer duster! The upstairs bedrooms had many webs, as did the bathroom; my parents reported many webs in their bedroom too... The hanging rack of pots in the kitchen, the decorative mirror in the dining room-- full of cobwebs. We were clearing cobwebs and killing spiders everyday; I felt like it could use a good scrubbing.
It's nice that towels are provided, but they are very old & worn. Some bed linens were the same - both could use updating. We didn't use basement beds bc we didn't need them, but there was a smell in the bsmnt that was undesirable...
Bed/bathroom setup was nice. Those who slept in kings said they were comfy. Twin beds upstairs are old and creak a lot. Not comfortable.
None of the aforementioned things ruined our stay, tho. We had a great time! And owners mom was over ASAP when we reported a clogged upstairs sink and burnt out light bulbs.
We found the rental cottage to be just like home. Greeted by a plate of cookies, the kitchen was well furnished, house clean and beds made, as promised. There were many recreation items for the kids, including an outdoor club house, swim toys and bicycles furnished. All the mechanicals were functional and when we had questions, owner was prompt in responding.
We loved our time at Robin's Nest. We have two families with 5 kids (boys and girls ranging in ages 11-17). We loved being able to ride our bikes everywhere, the house was so close to town, yet very private, as it was located at the end of a pipe stem. Cute shops downtown, close to WalMart for groceries, farmer's market for produce. The house was so clean, plenty of room. The sheets, beds and pillows were all very nice (not to be taken for granted in a rental). Robin was amazing. The VCR in the small tv room, for the teens evening viewing, had some issues. Robin came over that day, and replaced the TV and VCR. The screened in porch saw many a euchre game, and we built a fire every night. Bikes, sheets, towels, board games, linens, grill, lots of kitchen supplies all provided. Huge bonus, not having to lug all of that to Michigan. Lake Michigan was chilly, and the house could use a tad more light (ie, trim the trees), but we loved the house, location and would definitely return. The price was right too. We LOVED Sherman's Ice Cream, and the Olive Cart (oils and vinegars- already placed 2 mail orders!)
