Overview

Absarokee Lodge Rental Photos and Description

3000 Sq Ft, 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home with decks & porches on all 4 sides providing outdoor entertaining space and stunning views from every room. Plentiful wildlife and amazing views of the Big Skies for which Montana is famous. The house is on 85 acres providing privacy even though it is within walking distance to the quaint town of Fishtail with its General Store, Rock/Coffee shop, Wool and Pottery Craft House and Restaurant.

Bobcats, foxes, rabbits, marmot, whitetail and mule deer frequent the land as do sandhill cranes, grouse, owls and turkeys. Please give the Canada Geese that often nest by the pond plenty of room as they raise their young.

Well suited for 3 couples given that each bedroom has its own bathroom 'en suite'. 1st floor King has a wood burning fireplace, french door to deck with Western & Northern views, stall shower and separate oversize soaking tub; Both upstairs bedrooms contain double size log beds and furnishings. North bedroom includes a gas burning fireplace and private bath with a stall shower and views to the North & West. The South bedroom views are to the South & West. Its bathroom includes a tub/shower. Both have large walk-in closets with ample storage space.

The kitchen provides ample room for two chefs; upscale appliances including an indoor Jenair grill and microwave/convection oven. The adjacent dining area that seats 6 is the best location to view the bluebirds that nest near the house. A french door conveniently leads from the dining room to an outdoor dining area and grill on the deck. Counter top appliances include a blender, coffee grinder and hand mixer

The great room contains a massive river rock fireplace with a thermostat controlled gas insert; a comfortable seating area with sweeping views and desk space for two.

High speed wireless internet and satellite television with local network stations, a DVD player and a selection of movies are provided in the great room.

Ceiling fans and 3 skylights provide cool air flow on hot summer days. Forced hot air heat.

Bed and bath linens are provided as are paper towels, toilet tissue, & trash bags.

Wonderful stay, time after time

  • 5 of 5
This is my third stay at Panorama Ranch and it remains one of our family's favorite vacation destinations. The property and home have spectacular views. You can watch the sun rise and then watch it set from the living room or deck.
The house is extremely well-kept with a great layout. Master suite is downstairs and additional rooms are upstairs; all with the same beautiful views as the main living areas. The kitchen is fully supplied with everything needed for cooking or baking. We appreciated that cooking staples like flour, sugar, spices, coffee and filters were here when we arrived. The living room is comfortable and full of light. There are gas fireplaces in the living room and one upstairs bedroom and a wood-burning fireplace in the master suite. The house is very tastefully furnished. The deck allows outdoor living in the warmer months.
The location allow unobstructed views of the Beartooth Mountains and the Crazy Mountains. While in the area my son enjoyed exploring the large ranch area and we regularly saw deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, sandhill cranes and grouse. We also enjoyed whitewater rafting and horseback-riding during our summer visit and sledding on the property during our winter visit. While we did not fish, the Stillwater River Valley is known for excellent fly-fishing.
We ventured into Billings (1 hour away) on each visit for some shopping and eating out. We enjoyed a day at an indoor water park while there was snow on the ground. We also visited a small local park called Prarie Dog Town which is about 45 minutes northwest of Absarokee and taking the back road to this park full of lively prarie dogs is a nice side trip. On one trip we went into Bozeman (2 hours away) and saw the excellent dinosaur museum there. We also explored the university campus and had two great meals downtown.
After staying at the house on our summer trip we stayed several days in Yellowstone National Park where seeing the wolves in Lamar Valley was a highlight. We also saw elk, bears, and bison. Yellowstone is like no other national park. The geysers are unbelievable!
Staying at Panorama Ranch has provided adventure and relaxation for our family. It allows for a unique vacation experience with as much excitement or relaxation as you prefer. I hope to return many more times.

This is when we found out the house is on the market and they wanted to show the home during our vacation.(we wouldn't have considered this home if we had known it was for sale) We emailed them we were uncomfortable with showing the home but they kept pursuing us for times. We ignored them & they finally cancelled the showing! As renters we are responsible for the home/contents as well as our own belongings.( made very clear by the owners) When we arrived there were weird smells and tall grass.(hard 2 explore) On Fri a person called to get in the gate (never found out who)there was also car tracks on the property which is why when we left on Fri.we came back after only an hour.Upon our return to the home a pesticide truck parks behind us. Asked if he was spraying the outside he said,"No, I am spraying the inside too and checking traps." (I'm allergic to pesticide so this was disturbing) The owner had the audacity to say I should have told her about my allergies; well, if I had been given ADVANCE notice of them coming I would have been happy to share this info. When the traps were checked he found the reason for one of the smells a DEAD MOUSE under the nightstand beside the bed. When we told the owners we didn't comfortable staying here any longer they charged us a huge amount of money for only staying here two days. What we paid for the 2 days was nearly 2/3 of the weekly rate. After all they put us through then they ripped us off! The owner kept implying we may not get ANY money back so we agreed to this even though it wasn't fair. We had to pay a CLEANING fee obviously it had not been done before we arrived if it had they would have found the dead mouse, dead bugs stuck to sticky trap under the beds, and the dead bugs in the pillow cases. The bathroom upstairs had a strong sewer gas smell too.
The owners actually accused us of putting them out. They ruined our vacation we were 3,ooo miles away from home with nowhere to stay and one entire day of our vacation was spent looking for a motel room and we had to use spending money for motel rooms. The refund wasn't sent in a timely manner the owners kept giving us different dates she even told me sorry you didn't get your check when you wanted it.We rented this home in the middle of nowhere with 85 acres for privacy and we found more at THE HOLIDAY INN! There isn't anything she can TRUTHFULLY say against us we did nothing wrong except for agreeing to rent this property! Rented many VRBO's never had issues!!!!

The cabin was BEAUTIFUL!! The views were breathtaking! When we arrived it had just finished raining and there was a double rainbow :) The cabin was everything as it said online, whewww. The extras the owners thought of were very nice (plastic bags, Tupperware, odds & ends). The beds were comfy & everything was very clean:)
My son was a little afraid of the moose, deer, & antelope heads but aside from that, it was wonderful! We took several side trips to Yellowstone & another to nearby Emerald Lake. We also ate at the local restaurant in Fishtail, very nice, friendly people:-)
We would definitely stay here again :-)
