Charming cabin on an artist’s 21 forested acres with stream and pond. This gem is perfect for a solo escape or a romantic journey for two and the amenities abound: fully functional galley kitchen; comfortable queen bed; new 3/4 bathroom with custom cabinets and counter top, equipped with shampoo/conditioner/hair dryer/1st aid kit; charming gas fireplace; handcrafted cabin interior brings the woods inside and is accented with antiques; VCR/DVD players with monitor and small library of videos and DVD's; CD player, Wi-Fi and Pandora Radio thru your laptop played thru built-in speakers (the Wi-fi can be a little unpredictable since we are in the mountains); large deck with great views; gas grill, hammock in the woods for lazing about; hiking on the property with views of two mountain ranges and possible sightings of moose, bear, elk, deer and maybe even a mountain lion. Enjoy breath-taking sunrises & sunsets - great for artists who paint, sketch or photograph! To further your Montana experience, activities abound from visiting Yellowstone National Park, rodeos, art galleries, hot springs, fishing, skiing, hunting, wildlife viewing and more – most within one hour's drive or less! Ed & Diane have been self-employed artists throughout their life. Diane paints in oil. Ed makes furniture and sculpture. Their small family business - The Kristian Brunsdale Studio - is named after Ed's Norwegian grandfather.

Ed & Diane Grunseth purchased this cabin in 2001

We moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Montana to turn the clock back in a rural alpine setting with mountains, water and trees - the Montana dream! We're still near civilization with the towns of Livingston (35 miles away) & Bozeman (50 miles away) that have amenities such as the university in Bozeman, a very good hospital, excellent art galleries and great dining. Our place has allowed us to build and expand our studio, enjoy the outdoors with its abundant wildlife - it's a 24/7 vacation for us!

One walk on the property and we were sold because of the one acre pond, Horse Creek running along its border and the heavy Doug Fir forest for us to play in. An additional bonus is the great neighbors doing a wide variety of things from ranching to the arts (painters, writers, photographers & more) to cowboys and the fun and excitement that Wilsall brings with it's seasonal events and just hanging out. And there's road trips!

BEAT EXPECTATIONS!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at this cabin over Labor Day weekend. Since one goal was to leave the business of California, we were ecstatic to be 8 miles out on a gravel country road. Another goal was to go north, south, east and west of the cabin -- and that was easy to do. Went a day to Yellowstone, another day toward Bozeman, another day to the rodeo in Sulfur Springs, the cabin was centrally located to the spots we visited. We also was hoping to see wild life and we did! Saw eagles, hawks, magpies, antelope, two bull moose, the family of deer who live there, even saw a porcupine. The photos do not do justice to how quaint the cabin is, their artistry is on display at every corner. We did have one time we needed internet and found that if you walked by their shop it was available. The back deck is spacious and very relaxing, quiet!! We will stay there again next year -- so kind of hoping it stays a secret.

AWESOME RETREAT

  • 5 of 5
My fiance and I stayed at Diane and Ed's cabin for 3 nights and probably would have extended our stay if someone else hadn't booked right after us. The cabin is beautifully appointed and has enough space to eat, write, relax, and grill out on the deck. There is a great sound system with speakers in the ceiling so bring any music that you have downloaded. There is a nice trail on the property that will get your heart rate up and where you are sure to see some wildlife. We weren't able to get any internet while on the property - which is good to know because we were expecting it to be spotty but really had no access at all. We're not the type of people who can't put down our computers or phones - we both love to be out of reach and in nature. However there were one or two things we were counting on doing, so having no access at all was a little bit of a stressor. It would have been helpful knowing that going in, so hopefully folks coming in the future will be prepared. Would definitely come back. We were even gifted with a beautiful cutting board at the end!

Owner's Response: Dear Roger & Nijmie,

Thank you for such a great review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in our cabin in the quiet woods. A little BBQ-ing with some nice music can be quite relaxing. We're always adding more music and movies to the library. We hope you will come back.

PERFECT GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5
We spent a wonderful 7 days in this cabin. Every morning as I drank my coffee a mother deer and her fawn came within yards of the cabin. The seclusion gives you a place to enjoy the outdoors. The cabin is adorable with everything you need to sit on a mountain an enjoy nature. We can't wait until our next visit

Owner's Response: Sally & Larry - Thanks for the great review! The doe and the fawn that you had coffee with every morning now return to the cabin in the evenings and are joined by friends - a doe with twins! Have a great rest of the summer.

PERFECT GETAWAY CABIN

  • 5 of 5
My husband didnt want to leave Montana during the summer for our honeymoon. So I thought what better place to go than the beautiful Crazy Mountains! The cabin was perfect. The cabin is beautifully decorated and has amazing woodwork throughout it. We were able to meet Ed and Diane, let me tell you, they are so nice and accommodating! They had a bottle of champagne waiting for us to enjoy over the breathtaking view. Wilsall is a great little town. A local farmer met us in town to sell us prime raised Montana beef (Muddy Creek Ranch). We ate like kings. I suggest picking up groceries in Wilsall. Don't for the Wilcox ice cream made in Montana!
