I am a writer, and have lived year-round in Provincetown for thirty years.

Melanie purchased this condo in 2001

This compound, formerly the artist Robert Motherwell's studios, has been inhabited by artists, writers, and various thinkers since it was built in 1900. The neighborhood embodies Provincetown as it once was: architecturally intact, friendly, quiet. But it is the expansiveness and beauty of the harbor- the outside of the building rather than what the building contained- that captured us then, and continues to hold us now.

Though the chaos of Provincetown is just a short walk away, stepping onto the deck is an exhale without end. Laying on the bed is like being on a boat out of the weather. Its intimate relationship with the water makes this place like no other, as close as you can be to it without actually getting wet!

PROVINCETOWN VACATION

This rental is adorable! The location is stellar and the peace and quiet added to the enjoyment of our vacation. Needed a little cleaning when we got there but our overall experience was a 10. The owner is lovely to deal with and we would go back.

GROUP FROM DENVER

Could not have booked a better place for our group of friends. Great location right on the beach, close to restaurants and galleries. We have been staying at a different place for over 5 years and could not be happier that we found this. Close enough to walk to everything, but far enough to enjoy peace and quite...oh, and the beach right off your massive deck!

Owner's Response: Chad and company were dream guests. I'd highly recommend them if I were at all willing to give them up!

AWESOME, WONDERFUL, LOVED IT!

  • 5 of 5
We loved this place! It looks great in the photos, but the thing I wasn't prepared for is that it's really large. The main room is a big, open living/dining/kitchen area. The main bedroom is directly facing the beach and is pretty incredible. High tide is literally feet from your bed.

The second bedroom is very secluded at the back (street side) of the apartment, which allows more privacy. There's sort of a "pass-through" room with a daybed as well, on the way from the living room to the rear bedroom.

The deck is also larger than it appears in the photos, and the stairs go directly down to the beach. At high tide, you can sit on the lowest steps with your feet in the water.

The only thing to note is the location -- this is in the far east end of town. For us, that was perfect, because we wanted someplace quiet. You'll definitely want to bring or rent bikes, though, if you're planning on going into town much. It's probably 1.5 miles to the center of town, which is easy by bike but takes a while on foot.

WONDERFUL RELAXING VACATION

  • 5 of 5
My husband, two boys and I stayed at this beach house 7/7 - 7/14. The house was just as the pictures reflect. Waking up every morning to the Cape Cod Bay outside your door was wonderful. The beach was clean and quiet. The center of town was a bit of a walk; should we return we would definitely bring bikes as this is the way to travel in town. We visited Race Point Beach which was a short drive away. The rest of the week we relaxed at our own private beach which was only 10 steps down from our patio. Plenty of shells and sea life to explore during low tide. The property was clean and we felt right at home. On our last day we checked out the break water walk and will definitely try it when we return to Provincetown. The owner was very nice and was available for assistance however we had no reason to contact her during our stay since everything went very well and most everything we needed she had made available. The only thing that may have been nice would have been a grill ... we ate breakfast and lunch at the house and went out for dinners each night. Dinners were pricey and having the option of grilling at home some nights would have been nice. We would definitely recommend this property to a couple or family with as many as three children.
