water sports:
If you can drag yourselves away from the pool, Lake Garda has some excellent water sports with boat hire possible nearby for motor and sailing boats. In addition there are world class kite and windsurfing opportunities, particularly further north on the lake. Toscalano Maderno, 5Km away, has a lively beach area with diving platform that acts as a great meeting place for the young and young at heart!
.
ferries:
A great way of exploring Lake Garda is by hopping on and off ferries that travel around the lake. There are published timetables and the services are very professionally run and they provide a relaxing and relatively inexpensive way to see as much or as little as you like.
A car ferry crosses the lake between Toscalano Maderno and Torri del Benaco with services every 30 minutes. This can be a fun way to cross the lake and travel on to eg Verona for a day's sightseeing.
Ski:
Italy's most fashionable ski resort is Madonna di Campiglio which is 100 km north of the house. The scenic drive takes about an hour and three quarters. There are good ski and equipment hire facilities at the resort and it is certainly possible to go there and back in a day. Nearer to the house there is the smaller resort of Gaver, which is 40km away, but Madonna is the bigger and better option.
Golf:
There are courses nearby at Garda Golf (25 minutes away), Arzaga (25 mins) with a stunning hotel/palazzo and great course, Bogliaco (20 Mins) and a 9 hole course with driving range and practice facilities at Colombare just outside Salo (15 mins)
