Prime location in the heart of fashionable Ipanema this 2 double bedroom, 2 story 1500 sq ft penthouse is where mid- century Brazilian meets contemporary design(there is in addition a small single bedroom with small en-suite shower room).There are 2 outside spaces,one balcony on the first floor and also a decked terrace on the top floor with private, temperature controlled Jacuzzi. Awesome views of the mountains and Christ statue (illuminated at night). Great location minutes from the beach,exactly parallel to the most coveted hot spot on Ipanema beach, the famed Post 9. This apartment has been designed to capture the spirit of bossa nova! Please note that this is a residential family building.If you are after a Mancation type of holiday please do not make an enquiry. This is strictly not the environment for sexual tourism.

Positioned in a calm,residential street canopied with trees this is referred to by locals as the'noble' area of Ipanema. Being to the left of Rua Vinicius de Morais this is seen to be the safest part of ipanema, not being in the 'shadow' of any favela.Known as the 'Beverley Hills of Rio' due to the many telenovela stars who live here. Tom Jobim wrote the classic 'The Girl From Ipanema' song while living in this street in 1962 (a plaque commemorates this at no.107). You are 4 blocks from Post 9 on the beach, 2 blocks from the main shopping thoroughfare and 3 blocks from the Lagoa. Although taxis are plentiful and inexpensive, being so well located means you can walk to virtually all amenities. There are also 2 parking spaces within the building which is useful if you have Brazilian friends visiting.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Minimum rental period is 3 nights.The standard rate is £155 per night inclusive all taxes .50% deposit is required to secure a reservation and full payment ,including the security deposit, must be made 30 days in advance of the booking.There can be discounts for longer bookings . Your electricity consumption will be monitored and deducted from your deposit(this is to discourage those who leave the air conditioner units on during the entirety of their stay.This is both very expensive and environmentally unfriendly). If you would like extra maid service the cost is £30 per day. A one off cleaning bill of £40 will be added to your bill to cover cleaning costs on your departure.Also a security deposit of £300 will be required.This will be returned to you (less electricity costs) once the apartment is oked by my manager in Rio,within 3 days of your departure.We can supply our own driver with special airport pick up service for US$50.

  • New Year and Carnival are subject to a 10 day min. booking period.Special rate is £3200 inclusive.Full payment must be made in this instance only at the time of booking.
  • Payments are by bank transfer(free if within the UK) or by PayPal (4% will be added in this case).
    Cancellation policy: 20% of the total fee is non-returnable.If less than 30 days from the beginning of the booking then 50% is returnable.If less than 7 days no refund will be made.I recommend you take out insurance against cancellation due to unforseen circumstances.

The layout of the 2nd floor reached by the spiral staircase gives it a sense of seclusion and privacy apart from the rest of the apartment below. Both main bedrooms have split air conditioning units .All bedrooms are supplied with high thread Egyptian cotton sheets,goose down pillows, high quality mattresses etc.

Notes: Due to the spiral staircase and 2 outdoor areas so high up I probably would not recommend this apartment for children under the age of 5 for safety reasons.Elderly/infirm OK if they stay on the first floor. There are 2 car parking spaces in the building,useful if you rent a car or have Brazilian friends visiting. The building has 24 hour security staff at reception.

Simply The Best!

This apartment is the best one by far I have rented in 5 years and I enjoyed it very much.Also it was the best service I have had from a rental service.
I was delighted to find out that the second bedroom had a Queen bed and was good sized.I was also delighted that both bathrooms had walk in showers.I am 61 and have learned that tub showers scare me.But the size of the place was much better than I expected.My son joined me for 4 days and it was perfect.
I loved the view off both decks and the fact there were balconies off both.Very nice.Of course I liked the top best and would never have thought a cactus would look so good there.The Jacuzzi has the distinction of being the first Jacuzzi or pool I paid for that worked.All the appliances in the kitchen worked well.
Maid service was great and there is no need for more than 2 hours.I would recommend that a $25 daily service rate is more reasonable,gets the job done fine and will help keep the cost down.
I hope to get back in the next year and, if so ,would definitely like to rent this place again.I really did enjoy it.The doormen there were very nice and were all struggling to learn some English.All in all it was a very nice trip!
Owner's Response: I do understand that $50 may seem steep for the maid service but that is what I'm charged by my management team on the ground in Rio,and is fairly standard.This service is, of course, entirely optional.I should also point out they are also happy to undertake,for example,shopping,laundry/ironing and child minding duties.Thanks,incidentally, for taking the trouble to submit your review!

Ipanema! What a location! On my way to the sexiest beach in the world I walked right past the Garota de Ipanema bar (as the original “Girl from Ipanema” once did). Walking in the other direction to the lagoa I watched the cariocas work out in next to nothing...then ‘round the lake to the exquisite botanic gardens. As soon as it became just TOO MUCH I retreated back to my own split level penthouse. I felt like I was in an Austin Powers movie where I was the star (including Florence Broadhurst wallpaper which made this Aussie feel very much at home). All the creature comforts were there. The kitchen is fully functional and well equipped and the roof top terrace gives a bull’s eye view of the Christ statue while sitting back in the Jacuzzi with a caprioska in hand. The second balcony and living area on the lower level meant the friends I shared with had their own separate space when they wanted it. The 24 concierge was helpful and reassuring. Lastly, thanks to the owner for his insider’s guide to making the most of his apartment and of this very enticing part of Rio.Believe me...this place is tops!

Great Views

I stayed here back in November of last year for a week and loved the space. It rained quite a few days of my stay and I was happy to lounge upstairs and watch the impressive storms from the day bed.
You cannot get better location wise and the choperia around the corner is a great hangout.
I have recommended it to friends and will continue to do so.
