Spacious cottage to sleep 10+ in a beautiful village at the foot of The Ridgeway

Broadbrook Cottage is a fantastic, newly refurbished cottage in the lovely tranquil village of Sparsholt, a stone's throw away from The Ridgeway, which is famed for its stunning walking routes, bridleways and the Uffington White Horse. This pretty and spacious cottage is perfect for large groups and families, sleeping up to 10+ people. It has a large kitchen/dining area with a separate utility room. A fabulous conservatory looks over the garden and fields beyond and there is sitting room and separate TV room/study complete with a double sofabed. There are four large bedrooms, (one double, one double plus single bed or cot,one twin and one triple) two with en-suite bathrooms, a further family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom.The sitting room is bright and airy, with a lovely wood-burning stove, flat screen TV and DVD player and a stereo. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a dishwasher, microwave, hob etc. The separate utility room has a washer dryer and second sink. The house has a pretty back garden with wooden garden furniture and a swing seat. The garden is spacious with a stream running along the boundary. There is ample parking for 5 cars at the front.There is stabling available.

Perfect for a hen weekend

11 girls on a hen weekend, Perfect accommodation and kitchen. Nice garden, parking for 9 cars easily, good facilities. Any problems (such as power cut) were quickly and easily rectified by owner Caron who lives 2 seconds away. Free Wi-Fi. Could do with a second fridge for all the booze we brought! Good value for money. Would happily go again.

Wonderful cottage for large party

We booked Broadbrook cottage .for a party of 12 friends who are scattered across the UK,so this was an ideal central location.The property was very spacious & accommodated us all easily.It was very clean & decorated to a high standard.Caron was very welcoming & she also owns the pub in the village.We ate there on Saturday night & it was a high standard.4 of our party are vegetarian & Caron arranged for there to be extra dishes on the menu for them.The village is very quiet but a 10 min walk from the cottage is The Ridgeway.It took us 1 hour to walk to The White Horse with stunning views.The one major problem we had was the wheelchair access.We chose this propert as it advertises wheelchair friendly & 1 of our group is disabled.However,there are steps up to the front door & gravel paths around to the back.Luckily we had portable ramps to get the wheelchair & person into the house.Also.as previously stated getting hold of the owner was impossible.There was no acknowledgement of receiving payment which needed chasing,very frustrating..But persevere,as this is a lovely cottage for a large party

Highly recommended!

10 friends and I stayed at Broadbrook cottage to celebrate the forthcoming nuptials of one of our group.

What a fantastic venue for a hen party! The house is beautiful, light airy and spacious, with a big kitchen more than ample for preparing and eating food in such a big group. The large conservatory provided a makeshift dance floor and patio doors lead out into the beautiful garden, with views onto the field beyond.

The house was clean and well presented, with comfortable beds and good shower/bath facilities. More than this, the house has an ambience, a certain flair and style to it, so I was not surprised to find out that one of owners is in interior design.

The surrounding area is beautiful, picturesque villages and rolling fields, and some “nearly extreme” sports to be had just outside Wantage, clay pigeon shooting, quad bikes, hover craft etc.

The local pub (just round the corner) is owned by the same people who own Broadbrook Cottage, and is the friendliest pub we have frequented in a long time. It has just been refurbished and was not yet serving food during our stay, so we ate at the Blowing Stone in Kingston Lisle, delicious food and an energetic and friendly atmosphere later in the evening.

Much fun was had by all, a wonderful weekend for our bride to be, thank you!

Holiday Cottage, Sparsholt

Cottage was brilliant, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms clean and well fitted out, the kitchen was spacious, there's 2 living rooms and a conservatory so plenty of space to relax, basically it was perfect for the 9 of us. Caron's very friendly and if there were a large group of us in the area again I would definitely stay here.

Could be fantasic but a few details let it down

We all very much enjoyed our stay at Broadbrook Cottage which is a lovely house in a beautiful village location. On the whole we thought the property was nice and of a good standard. It was clean and comfortable and in a great location. However, there were a few key things that let the property down. I passed our feedback on to the owner upon our return. Although she acknowledged my feedback and sent her apologies she did not actually address or explain any of the individual points which I found a further disappointment.

- I found the booking process a bit haphazard not receiving any confirmation in writing nor receiving confirmation of payments received. I had to chase at every step and wasn’t filled with confidence. This was further compounded when Caron appeared on the Sunday morning asking when we were leaving. We were busy preparing lunch and had booked until the Monday – she thought we were leaving by 11am that day and was surprised we were still in situ. Although apologetic on our return home when she realised her error it made for a pretty awkward moment.

- The heating was not on in anticipation of our arrival meaning that the house was very cold and in fact remained that way for several hours. We immediately put on the heating and went to light the fire - logs and kindling were supplied but no firelighters or matches meaning a drive into Wantage which was not anticipated.

- A welcome pack with details about the house, things to do locally, details of local pubs / restaurants etc would be a useful addition.

- The fridge door did not shut (even when empty). We resorted to using a chair to keep it shut and protect all the food we had brought for the weekend. Unannounced, people arrived Saturday morning to fix. We were pleased but it would have been really helpful if we had been advised of the issue and the planned solution.

- Whilst there were plenty of large towels there were no hand towels for any of the bathrooms.

- In the kitchen the kettle was broken so that the lid did not lift off, a four slice toaster would be more helpful than 2 slice given the number of people the house accommodates.

- The garden was lovely however there was dog muck on the grass which not only smelt awful but posed a real problem with the children running about. There were also cigarette butts on the ground.

We booked this cottage for a 'fake christmas' getaway for 12 of us and from start to finish the cottage was perfect. It was incredibly spacious, modern and in a beautiful location.

The listing was completely accurate, if anything underplaying the great facilities that this cottage offers. The cottage was immaculate and there was everything we could possibly need present, including wood for the fire and even a delicious chocolate cake!!

Caron was lovely and so helpful both on the run up and during our stay.

I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Broadbrook Cottage is situated in Sparsholt, a small, tranquil village which boasts an award winning pub, a Norman church and is surrounded by stunning countryside. The cottage has easy access to the renowned Ridgeway, which has some of the best walking routes and bridleways in the country. The historic Uffington White Horse and fort are also within walking distance. Lambourn, 'The Valley of The Racehorse,' is right next door, offering the opportunity to watch racehorses training on the gallops - a fabulous spectacle.The nearest town (5 minutes) is the market town of Wantage offering various shops such as Boots, Waitrose, Costa, WH Smith and Sainsburys. There is a market held on Wednesdays and Fridays in the town square, with a Farmers market on the last saturday of Every month. The beautiful city of Oxford with its huge array of attractions is a 20 minute drive away. Also within close distance is Newbury and its famous racecourse, as well as the pretty antiques centres of Hungerford and Marlborough. There are various lovely local attractions, ranging from Buscot house to Blenheim Palace and even Thomas The Tank Engine at the Didcot railway centre, though these are only small sample of the many things to do in the area.
