My husband and I live in Virginia Beach, VA...just a few hours away from the cabin. We have always wanted a place to escape to in the mountains and we found it at the Bears Den. We fell in love with the serenity and quaintness of the area and wanted to own this beautiful cabin from the moment we walked in the door.
We are always looking for ways to improve the property and make it exactly what a guest would want for an unforgettable get-a-way. Since purchasing the cabin, we have built a brand new deck on the lower level, upgraded the downstairs bathroom and renovated the fire pit area (among many other smaller projects).
We try to head up to our retreat every couple of months and always have a hard time leaving to come back to reality! We also love bring along our family and friends and always make lasting memories during our stays. Some of our favorite moments is watching the sunset over the mountain while we enjoy enjoy a cocktail. And, of course, the hot tub is a magnificent place to relax while gazing at the stars! We couldn't have dreamt of a better place to escape to.

The pictures are great, but the cabin is even better! And the location is perfect -- feels secluded without being secluded! Beautiful sunsets, campfires in the firepit, fireflies, smores, wine on the deck . . . it doesn't get much better! Great vacation home for adventures in Shenandoah! We will be back!
Our group of friends, 4 couples, took advantage of the kids being watched over by grandparents and were kids ourselves!! Our faces lit up as soon as we pulled in to the drive then we skipped around from room to room, exploring the beautiful cabin that was ours for the long weekend! After wonderfully cooked meals in the fully stocked and beautiful kitchen (and table that fit us all) we enjoyed late nights laughing out loud as different "tournaments" were going on in the game room or serious card games that were taking place. We had all decided before we left that this needs to be our "Tradition Vacation".
We had such a wonderful stay along with such great communication through the whole process. We had two couples, 4 singles, and two kids. The house was just perfect and was everything we wanted, plus more. It's obvious they really put a lot of work into making us comfortable, from quality beds and linens, the cleanliness, the warm (and sometimes humorous) decor, the directions/instructions, the fully stocked kitchen, the Internet, and the wood stove (along with the offer for wood delivery!). It was such a cozy and warm cabin...I could go on and on....Everyone loved it, and there are requests from my group to come for another stay. The couple with the kids really appreciated the Pack and Play--thank you!! My friends and I have stayed at many cabins in the past--this is by far one of our favorites, and we look forward to another stay at Bear's Den!
My family and I had a blast at The Bears Den Cabin! The place was clean, affordable & had everything you would ever need for a weekend away. The views were amazing and there were plenty of things to do around the cabin (play pool, darts, sit by the fire, relax in the hot tub, soak up the views on the back deck). We didn't have the best weather but that didn't stop us from having a good time. The only issue we had was the hot water (or lack of). Quick showers were a necessity or you would be caught in the cold.
All around we had a great weekend and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Just returned from a wonderfully relaxing long weekend at the Bear's Den. My friends and I were looking for a cabin with the privacy of camping but the amenities of home and we found it. Unlike some of the other rentals we considered, Bear's Den is nicely secluded with beautiful views from the deck and kitchen windows. The remote location didn't come at the expense of some creature comforts, though - it offered lovely bathroom and bedroom (all 5 of the bedrooms have at least a queen bed suitable for adults) accommodations and a well-appointed kitchen. Overall it was a great pick!
The cabin was everything we expected and more. It was well furnished and spacious and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed many mornings and evenings out on the deck listening to the sounds of nature and taking in the splendid views. We had a very small issue while staying at the cabin which was resolved immediately. We explored Luray caverns, Shenandoah national park, Lake Arrowhead, and splashed about in the Shenandoah River. The cabin seemed secluded and provided a great base to explore. We would definitely recommend The Bear's Den.
What a great cabin for our family vacation. It was spacious, well furnished and very accommodating for our family of 12. It was in the mountains and provided such wonderful views of the mountains. There was the capability of having nightly campfires which was a great family gathering for smores and camp songs. The opportunity to experience family vacation was enhanced by such wonderful accommodations. The cabin was beautiful and I would highly recommend it for a get a way with the family.
