This imposing Edwardian residence is to be found deep in the heart of Ruby Country in its own 70 acres of outstanding countryside. The tiny hamlet of Priestacott nestles in the River Torridge valley and offers delightful south facing views over rolling countryside and on to Dartmoor. Priestacott House offers large families or groups of friends a relaxed atmosphere and being centrally situated is ideal to allow you to experience the very best that Devon and Cornwall can offer. The spacious accommodation, full of original features and furniture, is ideal for larger groups and families and short breaks are welcome. A visit to Priestacott House is to taste true country house living; with a Rayburn in the kitchen, woodburning stoves and original oak floors this house dates back to the turn of the last century and exudes character and charm. There are five bedrooms, several with fantastic views, a sumptuous dining room and a wonderfully appointed drawing room with great outdoor facilities.

Situated in the quiet hamlet of Priestacott about seven miles from the market town of Holsworthy. Dartmoor is within a short distance and Exmoor a little further afield. The bathing and surfing beaches of North Cornwall are about half an hour's drive. There are several National Trust properties in the vicinity and the house is perfectly placed as a base for exploring the many attractions both cultural and historical in the area.

Walking: The extensive grounds of the house are perfect for walking completely undisturbed and in the middle of peace and tranquillity. Dartmoor is very close by with fantastic walking and there are numerous paths and circular walks in the area.

Sports: The grass tennis court is available during the summer months. Tamar Lakes are nearby where there is sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Golf can be arranged at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club, Holsworthy and courses such as St Enedoc and St Mellion are about an hour's drive. There is excellent surfing on the coast about half an hour's drive from the house.

Horse Riding: We have stables for two horses and these can be ridden freely over the 70 acre grounds of the house.

Perfect Venue for a Family Celebration

We stayed in this property in May 2009. We were delighted with the standard of accommodation, the stunning views and the garden. We were able to make use of the tennis court and the games room and we used the garden furniture for outdoor meals several times. The dining room was perfect for our celebration dinner.

We were made very welcome by the owners. The local produce and wine left for us was very much appreciated. The owner and his mother live in an adjoining property and they were very helpful when we needed anything. We were well supplied with fuel for the log burning stove. There was plenty of sports equipment so we could make use of the tennis court and games room and lots of thoughtful supplies in the kitchen.

The house provided a good base for exploring the area.
We made visits to 'Marble World', Broomhills Sculpture Park, standing stones at Merrivale, Clovelly and the beach. All very successful trips entertaining for both children and adults.

I would recommend this property very highly.

Priestacott House was is a superb house to get away from it all. My business partners and I had a fabulous working week away and the house and location was perfect. Due to work commitments we had to arrive after midnight and were delighted to find everything we would need for a welcome evening meal after the journey Paul and Sue were amazing. We had a fabulous working break. The house is stunning and the location is fabulous. We spent every evening in the stable block playing pool on the excellent table. It was a perfect break and I could not recommend the house highly enough – thanks again. We will definitely be back.
