COMFY AND SPACIOUS MAIN LEVEL SUITE!

My husband and I chose Waikoloa to be more central to places we would be going (we've been to the island before but never stopped by Waikoloa since we don't really like crowded & commercialized places). Owners/Agents were very responsive & reservation was made easily. It was little bit tricky to find the place (if you pass Hilton, you passed the turn) and once you go thru the security gate, drive all the way in and the unit itself is the most corner spot of the whole place. A friendly agent was there waiting to give us the keys and explain little things. The unit is old and worn but clean and spacious. No view except huge ditch of lava rocks but it's very private & quiet being waaaay in the corner. Very comfortable beds but comforter smelled of another man (I'm very sensitive to smell and noise). Washer & dryer is on the small side. We rented a house last year near Kawaihae Harbor & it had body boards, beach chairs, small ice chest, lots of beach towels for all to use. This place had 3 adult beach towels and 1 child one, 1 broken body board, 1 beach recliner & a floaty thing we never used. Light in the master bath toilet room didn't work and master bath is an open bath (no door). Plenty of closet space and huge lanai where 4-5 cats gather (someone must have fed them before we came because they were there daily) and couple of them were very friendly (1 kept wanting to come into the unit so I had to keep my eyes on him). I don't consider this place to be a walking distance to any beach. Everything in Waikoloa is expensive - do your grocery shopping in Kona (cheapest) or Waimea. There is a helipad nearby so you will hear helicopters but wasn't a problem. Overall, it was pretty central and sufficient.

From beginning to end, this was a pleasant experience. Booking was easy, checking in was easy and the condo itself was lovely. We will definitely stay here again when we're back on the Big Island.

It's 17 miles north of the airport and is easy to find. Fine shopping, beaches and resort facilities are within pleasant walking distance. The condo itself is provisioned excellently, with plenty of everything and all very high quality. We recommend strongly that you make a detour to Costco on your way in. Stopping there first thing is a Big Island tradition for a reason. Supermarket prices, especially at Waikoloa, are eye-popping. Grab the basics at Costco and fresh produce, fish, etc. from the farmers' markets and little vendors and you'll save hundreds of dollars. Literally."
