Waikoloa Beach Resort Condo Rental Photos and Description
2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Condominium Close To Golf And The Beach!
On arrival you'll be greeted by our Big Island representative who will show you the suite and acquaint you with the unit and all its amenities.
The most recent improvement is complete replacement of all the vertical blinds in the suite. The suite features 9-foot ceilings throughout and we've highlighted this with new living room furniture, including a comfy queen sleeper sofa and loveseat set, new end tables, and even new lamps! The 42-inch TV and DVD/Blu-Ray are brand new too. Two sets of sliding glass doors open from the living room to the wrap-around lanai with views to the north and west for watching those awesome Hawaiian sunsets! The lanai has seating for four around the glass-topped table, plus two chaise lounges and another table perfect for those late afternoon drinks.
The master suite features a king size bed, triple dresser, new lamps on the bedside tables, and brand new 32-inch HD TV. Mirrored sliding doors on the closet add dimension to the room, which looks out over a sea of lava toward the golf fairway. A palm leaf ceiling fan helps keep guests cool.
The master bathroom is roomy with two sinks, huge spa bathtub and separate, completely redone shower, and separate lavatory room to boot. There's also another closet with mirrored sliding doors to finish out the room.
The second bedroom is on the opposite side of the suite from the master bedroom and has a brand new queen bed, double dresser, 28-inch HD TV, and a large closet with mirrored sliding doors. The room opens directly to the lanai through sliding glass doors. The adjacent bathroom features a completely redone shower and separate spa tub.
The kitchen features many new appliances and utensils including a Black & Decker coffeemaker, Cuisinart blender, and Kitchen Aid 4-slice toaster. The kitchen is also equipped with a cook-top stove, microwave oven, traditional oven, and a large side-by-side fridge/freezer complete with ice maker.
The dining room is directly adjacent to the kitchen and looks out over the lava field to the golf fairway. The glass-topped table seats 5 easily. And the new bar stools make conversation at the counter easy!
Other amenities include:
-high speed internet
-hair dryer in each bathroom
-central air conditioning
-washer and dryer
-access to swimming pool, tennis courts, and fitness room.
For you golfers, we also offer Preferred Player Cards at Big Island Country Club! The Preferred package include half price Titleist Ap-1 rental clubs and free range balls and invitations to special events at the course!
Two couples, Mark and Karen (left in photo), Barbara and Scott (right), purchased the property in summer 2012. We all reside on the mainland, Scott and Barbara in northern California and Mark and Karen in southern Wyoming.
Karen Panter purchased this condo in 2012
Why Karen Panter chose Waikoloa Beach Resort
Mark and Karen had stayed at The Shores in 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed the exceptional suites and the proximity to A-Bay, the Hilton, the shopping areas (Kings and Queens), and being so close to Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Volcanoes National Park. When the opportunity arose to purchase this unit, we all jumped on it!
What makes this condo unique
The Shores are close to A Bay, shopping, and golf. Numerous beaches line the Kohala Coast, each unique in its own way. Nineteen miles south is Kona International Airport and a few miles further south is the city of Kailua-Kona. The Shores and the Waikoloa area are excellent starting points to explore the Big Island of Hawaii!
Guestbook comments from the owner
Owners note: Our guest posted this on our other web site (HomeAway #3002780) and we thought we'd add it here as well. He said: "This location is perfect for a visit to the Big Island. It's 17 miles north of the airport and is easy to find. Fine shopping, beaches and resort facilities are within pleasant walking distance. The condo itself is provisioned excellently, with plenty of everything and all very high quality. We recommend strongly that you make a detour to Costco on your way in. Stopping there first thing is a Big Island tradition for a reason. Supermarket prices, especially at Waikoloa, are eye-popping. Grab the basics at Costco and fresh produce, fish, etc. from the farmers' markets and little vendors and you'll save hundreds of dollars. Literally."
I live on the Big Island and have stayed at many condos in the Waikoloa area. This is not a super, luxury type place but I would recommend this owner and her unit to anyone looking for a good value especially for a family ..... the unit is so big & comfortable. PROS: The unit is spacious, clean, kitchen is well equipped (we only went out to a restaurant twice in 6 days), master king size bed and 2nd bedroom queen size were both comfortable (but the headboards are loose and a little annoying). We didn't use the sofa bed, so can't judge it. Living/dining room well furnished, lanai is very big w/ table for 6, stack washer/dryer in unit. We really liked that there is a retractable screen door on the front entry. We opened the lanai door and the entry door and a nice breeze meant we could turn off the A/C on most days. ( But, please do get the screen repaired, the bottom is separated from the frame right in the middle) Also very nice is that this unit is well placed for quiet & privacy and has a nice golf course-lava rock view when sitting on the lanai. Not once did anyone stroll through our "back yard" like happens so often in other complexes in Waikoloa and because it is ground floor the lawn makes is feel even bigger. We took the lanai chairs out onto the grass for star gazing. We were also glad to see this is a NO Pets unit. We had some problems with the VRBO people with dates mix up but the owner solved everything quickly and quickly responded to our request for more towels. My ONLY negative comment is that the check out procedure says the owner requests that quests strip the beds, empty the trash and make sure the recyclables are in the proper bins, wash the towels and put them in the dryer and load and turn on the dishwasher. I'm not sure if this is truly the owner's requests or something VRBO does. We did as requested but I think that needs to be disclosed before you put your reservation money down. We had a good, relaxing "staycation" and recommend this unit. Aloha!

Owner's Response: We are so pleased our guest enjoyed her stay! One of the reasons we bought our suite is the location in the complex, as our guest noted. We continue to make improvements to the unit as time and funds allow. To respond to the negative comment about check out procedures, these requests are from our on-island concierge. The company handles check in and check out as well as cleaning and other necessities including repairs for us (the front roll-out screen is on our radar). Check out procedures are on our rental agreement and are also sent to guests from our on-island concierge. As our reviewer suggests, prospective guests should definitely read them before reserving the suite. If there are questions or problems, we can certainly address them prior to making the reservation. Mahalo!
We had a wonderful experience. We have family on the Big Island so this is not our first visit, and we have stayed in other places, but I would highly recommend this unit, and would be glad to stay here again. We found the unit to be very spacious for our family of 6 and loved the very large lanai and access to the grounds. The kitchen is a bit small and tight, but if you do not intend on cooking large meals you won't be bothered by this. The master bed was very comfortable and no one else had any complaints about their beds either. Our children are 9, 11, 21 and 23 and all were happy and comfortable. The pool area, tennis courts and gym were all used and enjoyed by all. We appreciated the many in-suite amenities, such as coolers and beach towels. We loved the proximity to the beach, an easy walk, and to the shops. We made many trips over the new Saddle road extension and found it only took about 80 minutes to Hilo. If you go, make sure you check out the Imiloa Astronomy Center--well worth a visit for all. We did go into the actual Waikoloa Village for groceries and would recommend this. We did eat out much due to food allergies, so I can't comment on the restaurants. We were very pleased with our experience, and would recommend this unit to others.

Owner's Response: We do provide a number of amenities in our suite for our guests. Beach towels and coolers are just the beginning!
This was the first time my Husband and I used VRBO for our vacation. We must say, what an amazing experience. Not only we were blessed to work with an amazing couple, but the condo was amazing too! It is always hard not knowing what to expect, but our entire experience was wonderful! We were greeted in the condo and spoke in depth about things we were interested in doing and aspects of the condo. The condo itself was very clean, well organized, had an amazing layout for two couples or families; large bathrooms, large living room, amazing scenery on the lanai, very quiet and private. I can only say positive things. Will stay here again anytime!! Thank you again to the owners for making our experience PERFECTION

Owner's Response: We are so glad you had such a great stay! We do try to make sure our guests are comfortable and our on-island support team is awesome. Mahalo for your kind comments!
I encountered no problems during my stay and was very happy with the accomodations. Easy walk to the Hilton where I was attending a conference. Pool is small, but comfortable. It was great to save some money by making meals at home and having access to a fridge, stove, microwave, oven, washer/dryer. Would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: There are numerous advantages to our unit, among them being proximity to conference facilities at nearby hotels and first floor convenience! We, the owners, are all 55+ and have made a concerted effort to make our suite both comfortable and accessible. We look forward to having our guest stay again!
My husband and I chose Waikoloa to be more central to places we would be going (we've been to the island before but never stopped by Waikoloa since we don't really like crowded & commercialized places). Owners/Agents were very responsive & reservation was made easily. It was little bit tricky to find the place (if you pass Hilton, you passed the turn) and once you go thru the security gate, drive all the way in and the unit itself is the most corner spot of the whole place. A friendly agent was there waiting to give us the keys and explain little things. The unit is old and worn but clean and spacious. No view except huge ditch of lava rocks but it's very private & quiet being waaaay in the corner. Very comfortable beds but comforter smelled of another man (I'm very sensitive to smell and noise). Washer & dryer is on the small side. We rented a house last year near Kawaihae Harbor & it had body boards, beach chairs, small ice chest, lots of beach towels for all to use. This place had 3 adult beach towels and 1 child one, 1 broken body board, 1 beach recliner & a floaty thing we never used. Light in the master bath toilet room didn't work and master bath is an open bath (no door). Plenty of closet space and huge lanai where 4-5 cats gather (someone must have fed them before we came because they were there daily) and couple of them were very friendly (1 kept wanting to come into the unit so I had to keep my eyes on him). I don't consider this place to be a walking distance to any beach. Everything in Waikoloa is expensive - do your grocery shopping in Kona (cheapest) or Waimea. There is a helipad nearby so you will hear helicopters but wasn't a problem. Overall, it was pretty central and sufficient.
Owner's Response: We always are looking for ways to improve our suite at The Shores! We also like to know if there are issues while our guests are staying. To respond to some of the comments:
- the linens are washed thoroughly between guest visits - not sure we can do much about sensitive noses
- the Shores complex is about 30 years old and we are working to upgrade as finances allow - since we purchased the unit last June (2012) we have made the improvements outlined on our web site, with more to come
- the washer and dryer are on the small side and they are on the list for upgrading - but they work well
- the body board was left behind by someone else as we were unaware of a broken one
- we can assist in getting things like light bulbs replaced and switches fixed if we know about them while guests are in residence
- it is a 15 to 20 minute walk to A-Bay, the closest beach - we provide a map on our web site so guests know basically where our suite is situated in relation to other sites at Waikoloa Beach Resorts
- the cats are ubiquitous in the area - we understand there is even a group on the island devoted to their care and feeding because they help keep unwanted rodents and other creatures at bay.
We always invite comments and are happy to respond! Thank you for your time!
