Adorable 3 bedroom sun-filled home one block from downtown Kennebunk. Beautiful and private backyard for relaxing and dining. Walk to shops and restaurants and music events. Less than 10 minute drive to beaches and Dock Square shops and restaurants in Kennebunkport.
I moved back to this area after living in Boston and Portland for ten years and love being part of this community. Mornings at the beach surfing and enjoying the beach are my favorite. Although I've lived here for years I continue to find new places to discover every day in this unique area.
Shauna Murphy purchased this house in 1998
Kennebunk is such a great town not only to vacation in but to live in for all it has to offer. I love the location of this house and being able to walk to everything and being so close to the beach. It is centrally located to Portland and Portsmouth which is great if feeling the need to get out of town. The Kennebunks have a lot going on in the summer and being able to come home and enjoy our own pied-a-terre is such a treat and sometimes more enjoyable than going to a great restaurant.
I fell in love with the secluded backyard and have enjoyed building the perennial gardens and seeing those come to life every spring. The patio is the perfect place to enjoy drinks or dinner or soak up the sun in the backyard- its a gem.
We loved our stay here, and would stay again! Great location central to many neighboring cities. The home was well-cared-for and clean, and stocked with all the supplies we needed. The owner was very accommodating and replied to us quickly when we emailed to ask questions. If there was one downfall, it was that the beds and pillows were not the most comfortable we've ever tried, but they were not terrible, either. (Also no dishwasher, so pack your paper plates.)
This house was great! We went up there for Christmas Prelude in Kennebunkport and house was 10 minutes away, close to restaurants in Kennebunk which we loved since we could walk to our favorite restaurant there the Kennebunk Inn. Loved the cozy fire place and enjoyed playing board games. House was super clean, and had everything we needed for the week, we would definitely stay there again since we love to visit my wife's family.
We stayed here for a week this summer and had a wonderful time. The house is adorably decorated and very well stocked - it had absolutely everything we needed. The outdoor space is beautiful, and we grilled and ate out in the backyard several nights. We could walk to downtown Kennebunk, and it was about a 10min drive to the beaches and to Kennebunkport. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a house in the Kennebunk area! It was just perfect.
The house was impeccable, very clean, nicely decorated, we enjoyed the art books, magazines, children's books and games, great backyard for kids to play and for parents to relax. We would love to come back next year.
Cute house, clean and well maintained inside and out (except door, see below)
Owner very accessible and helpful.
Door. Needs to be fixed to make it easier to open door. Owner was good about telling us up front that opening door could be difficult but door should be fixed as it is quite a hassle getting into house, especially if you are carrying something. Scraped my knuckles more than once +;).
Should leave written instructions on use of television remotes(s). Not at all obvious and was difficult to use.
We very much enjoyed this house. It is very spacious and fully equipped, just a 7 minute drive to our favorite beach. The wonderful landscaping design and backyard was perfect for the kids to unwind and play while we cooked dinner. The house is very clean (which was an important criteria for us). Cotton sheets and beautiful cotton towels (another must during the holidays!) The owners were very attentive to all of our needs. After greeting us with a bottle of wine, they even installed a badminton set for the kids in the yard and left a wonderful selection of enlightened books for all ages as well as games. There is a definite positive vibe to the house. We sense that the owners care about communicating their inspiration to their guests. There is an organic, surf and meditative ambiance to the home which beckons you to relax. In addition to having plenty of local soap and green products, some fresh lettuce and organic juice in the fridge, they also offer recycling (which I had yet to experience in Maine!)
Private backyard with patio for dining or enjoy a game of badminton or croquet. Close to beaches and one block from downtown Kennebunk. Walk to historic Summer Street and Brick Store Museum. Walk to great restaurants such as 50 Local (my favorite) or enjoy drinks on the porch of the Kennebunk Inn or dinner in the pub. Walking and biking nearby and minutes from Eastern Trail. 30 minutes to either Portsmouth and Portland's great restaurants & art galleries. 10 minutes from Saco IMAX and 40 minutes to Freeport (LLBean). Great location for scenic day trips : Laudholm Farm, Goose Rocks Beach, Cape Porpoise, Ogunquit Beach and minutes to Kennebunkport.
