The perfect cabin!

  • 5 of 5
This cabin was just perfect for our Thanksgiving getaway! It was exactly as described..... and decorated rustic yet just beautiful and classy! Loved the walls, ceilings, and floors to be wood.....definitely gave it the cabin feeling. It is very comfortable for six people for sleeping and eating and sitting room, as long as two can go on futon or put one on inflatable mattress. Would have liked a few more kitchen baking/cooking pans/bowls/accessories. It was too chilly for us to enjoy sitting by the river on the cute bench, but that is definitely a serene spot to enjoy! The cabin is only about ten minutes from the grocery store/gas station which was convenient. Dawn was great in providing all kinds of information and hints for things to do and see! We would definitely return and do hope to come back during warmer weather!

This is an excellent retreat from daily stresses! We were celebrating our anniversary and needed some peace & quiet. The area had plenty of activities or you could just do like us & enjoy some downtime. The cabin was wonderful! It was clean and very inviting. The weekend we were there it was overcast & rainy so we didn't get to enjoy as many outdoor activities as we would have liked, but we enjoyed listening to the crickets, birds, and hearing the rain. The owner did exactly as she said she would once we booked our stay. She provided all the necessary information you would need should there be a situation that needed to be addressed. Would highly recommend this cabin & we look forward to returning sometime in the future.

Couldn't have picked a better honeymoon spot!!!!!

Couldn't have picked a better honeymoon spot!!!!!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Dawn went the extra mile to make sure our trip was special! She was very responsive to our questions before the trip and very helpful! The cabin is just far enough out of town to feel secluded but close enough to be to all the attractions in no time at all! We visited Chimney Rock, went horseback riding just down the road, and kayaked on Mirror Lake.

One of the major highlights of our stay was our morning coffee on the bench by the river, with the mist coming off the water. The bench is right next to a tree, on top of moss covered ground, so beautiful! It was breathtaking to see, and just literally steps from the porch. The river had lots of fish swimming by, too bad we forgot our fishing poles! One morning we watched in amazement as a big buck swam across the creek right in front of us and climbed out onto the bank and walked up by the cabin. The next afternoon a group of deer crossed upstream, What a sight!!

The grill was also really nice to have. We prepared several meals at the house. Ingles is convenient, we also enjoyed lunch in the Ingles Deli, which was surprisingly delicious [ FYI - no fast food in the area, we ended up at Ingles while making a failed attempt to find a place to eat breakfast on a Sunday morning :( Best option was make breakfast at the Cabin ] Also ate at Larkin's, good food and nice view there!

The beds were so comfortable and the Jacuzzi tub was really nice after a long day of hiking/exploring/horseback riding!

The roads through Lake Lure are NOT "carsick people" friendly, but once you're there it's worth it! We had a little difficulty getting into the gate the night we arrived, it was near 11:00PM. After about 15-20 minutes of no one answering the "after hours" numbers on the keypad we had to call the maintenance guy to buzz us in. We attempted to walk up the road to the house... but in the pitch black dark with no flashlight we quickly headed back to the vehicle and called the nice maintenance man who buzzed us through.

It was an amazing honeymoon trip, we'd rate it 10 STARS if we could so relaxing, rejuvenating, convenient and wonderful! We can't wait to come back to stay and bring the kids and more members of the family! Plenty of room for everyone! HIGHLY recommended!!!!!!!!!!!

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I with our daughter and her girlfriend vacationed at Bear Necessities for a week. We had a wet beginning to our stay but that quickly changed and the rest of the week was absolutely beautiful. From the accomodations (the cabin was beautifully decorated and maintained) to the local sites and activities it was hard to leave it all behind at the end of the week. We enjoyed great food and had the opportunity to use the kayak on Mirror Lake. For a first time kayaker it was a blast and the lake was so calm. We will definitely be making more trips to your neck of the woods Dawn and pick up where we left off and missed on this trip. Thanks for providing us with a week of much needed relaxation!

This was a terrific cabin for five of us to get together for a week of rock climbing at Rumbling Bald. Super clean, super comfortable and with a full kitchen!
